Radio Slave returns to his Rekids imprint with the perfectly balanced ‘Acid Dip’ single.

The titular track on ‘Acid Dip’ sees Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards in particularly strident form. Riding a broken, stuttered-kick rhythm, ‘Acid Dip’ is a jabbing, insistent slice of UK techno shot through with hardcore and, whilst not skimping on raw power, still maintains the hypnotic nature that inhabits much of Edwards’ work. 

On the flip, ‘Armani’ takes off down a dubbed-out, futuristic Italo infused house workout that, throughout its eleven minutes 28 second span, shows a more dense, layered side to Radio Slave production.

There were a myriad of colours which leaked through the glass from outside. It was dark in here but beautiful and bright out there. From time to time they'd catch a glimpse of the radiant sky and the glow of the sun through the windows, it was like a holographic vision in the midst of the thick black fog which lingered in the air as the drums rumbled and clattered. This place was special, some had called it a temple in the past. Watching it all from the corner of the room he took a deep breath and proceeded forward into the smoke. 

Vince Watson is remixed by a collection of friends and associates on a new compilation called "DnA [re]Sequenced". The package includes material and reworks by the likes of Steve Rachmad, Claude Young, John Beltran and more. However, it was this remix from the pioneer that is Carl Craig which really caught our attention.

Manchester mainstay Mason Maynard makes a highly-anticipated return to Hot Creations this February. Providing the five-track Somethin’ For Tha Underground EP, two leading vocalists feature on the release in the form of legendary MC talent General Levy and American singer-songwriter Hadiya George.

Mason spoke on how the release came together: “I’ve been writing a broad range of styles over the past couple of years and I’ve tried to share some of that here. I’m grateful to have worked with the legend that is General Levy, as well as the super talented vocalist Hadiya George.”

Somethin’ For Tha Underground feat. General Levy begins proceedings. A tribal, old-skool leaning number, General Levy’s vocals add that signature jungle feel, as Mason’s four-four style marches on in the foreground. Ring Of Fire feat. Hadiya George comes next, manifesting as a soothing sunset cut packed full of emotive chords and warming strings throughout. The dub version soon arrives before Motherland ramps up the tempo courtesy of a rolling bassline and rampant kick-hat combos. Finally, Disco Punk brings things to a funk-driven close thanks to an instantly recognisable vocal sample.

Manchester DJ and producer Mason Maynard has built himself an exceptional reputation since first bursting onto the scene in 2017. Releases on Hot Creations, Relief and Sola have cemented his standing as one of the scene’s brightest young prospects, whilst performances at clubbing and festival institutions such as Privilege (Ibiza), Parklife (Manchester), Hideout (Croatia) and Space (Miami) have brought his sound to global audiences. In recent times, his Lookin’ At Me release saw him work alongside USA heavyweight leaders Insomniac, setting the tone for a new musical direction, with tastes of rhythmic Detroit style electro further establishing his ever-growing musical palette.

Riva Starr and Tiger Stripes drop their debut collaborative EP, with the inspired ‘Sound Of The Bettest’.

We first got an inkling of the exciting partnership that may exist between Stefano Miele (Riva Starr) and Mikael Nordgren (Tiger Stripes) last November, when Stefano presented his new Hyperloop project on Truesoul. Not only was it one of 2017’s standout releases for the label, it featured an exciting re-work by Tiger Stripes of EP track ‘Fallen Angel’, giving us a sense of the musical harmony that exists between the pair and taste of what was to come. 

With Riva Starr’s background as a jungle/breakbeat DJ and Tiger Stripes long-history in techno, together with the pair’s shared love of dirty house beats, ‘Sound Of The Bettest’ is a wicked melting pot of both their pasts and passions. Hammered by Adam Beyer, the title track is driven by a stunning groovy bass, warehouse MCing and deft breakbeat interludes. ‘Move It’, is a rough and tough accompaniment, characterised by a bad arse jungle bassline and breakbeats, impactful vocals and  and stomping techno beats.

UK talent Josh Butler has made a rapid ascension since he burst onto the scene in 2013, winning coveted awards from Beatport and DJ Mag. He now brings his production prowess to Hot Creations, delivering a club ready two-parter for his debut EP on the label.

Title track Anonymous is made for low ceiling, sweaty basements with its deep, growling bass and select vocal cuts. Doesn’t Work swiftly follows suit, delivering another dose of rolling, after-hours goodness. A mainstay in the industry, having released on labels such as Cuttin Headz, Relief and Desolat, Andrea Oliva steps up for the remix of Anonymous with an acidic bassline and lively breakdown that diffuses into a carnival of synths.

Since emerging on the scene back in 2013 with his debut Got A Feeling on MTA Records, Josh Butler has firmly established himself as a musical force to be reckoned with. Releases followed on coveted labels such as Kaoz Theory, Rejected and Cajual. In 2016, Butler also launched his own highly regarded imprint, Origins.
