Manchester based producer Carl Higson re-entered the scene a couple of months ago with the release of his Voyager track on Manual Music's 'Manualism' compilation album. A song that left many longing for more, so here we are! 

Making his debut on the MNL label, Carl Higson receives the full spotlight this time as he drops his solo single 'Unleashed' which features two excellent intelligent progressive house cuts.

Both the title track as well as 'Deepest Symphony' on the flipside are subtle builders, created to gradually take you to the next level of euphoria. Timeless cuts!

I’ve had a lot more time than normal over the last couple of months and discovered some great downtempo electronic and chillout music on Soundcloud mainly by unsigned artists and available to download for free. I haven’t done a chillout mix for a while so thought I would put together a best of Soundcloud Chillout mix. It’s the kind of chillout set I would play in Goa, starting from sunset and building up. Part 2 to follow, will be more upbeat into the night, deep house etc.

Electric Boutique Radio - Episode 2 - Carl Higson

Really enjoyed playing at the brilliant Land of the Lost night at Ruskins on 27th September.
I opened up and played for the first hour and it was a nice chance to play a bit more of an eclectic set compared to the sets I play at our Electric Boutique nights.
I recorded the set I played a few days after at home and added a couple more tracks at the end.

I had a night of mixing records with a few beers in my basement a few weeks ago which was really nice as I've been taking some time out from playing gigs over the last few months. 
It's just over 3.5 hours of music I've loved playing out and at home over the last year or so. Starting from ambient through to house.
I just had a recent trip to Greece and listened back to it on the way and its a nice mix for travelling for sure!

Carl Higson - Voyager

Hailing from Manchester, the musical influences of the city in the late 80’s and early 90’s had a big effect on Carl Higson’s musical taste. From Hip Hop to Indie and Ambient to Acid House, an eclectic mixture of genres has always had an influence on his musical direction.
Enjoying the party and nightlife scenes of Manchester and Leeds, Carl began DJ’ing in the early 2000’s. Striving to play long eclectic sets, he enjoyed several years of DJ’ing on the tropical beaches of South Goa, from chilled ambient sounds at sunset through to house and techno into the night bucking the trend of the notorious psy trance scene in the area. 
His productions are always on the deeper side of electronica from having early tracks released on Italian label Ban-Off music, to putting out his own albums and EP’s on Bandcamp and more recently having releases on Manual Music/MNL, Gibbon Records, Balter Records and Saturo Sounds. 
House music has always been his biggest love with deeper and melodic sounds influencing his mixes and productions. 
Currently enjoying DJ’ing in the Lake District in Cumbria where he now lives, he is also working on several production projects and also features in a monthly residency on Underground Kollektiv Radio.
Carl has also recently co-launched a new night in his home town of Kendal, "The District Discotheque" which hosts parties at Ruskins in Kendal every quarter.
