Sliding doors in the life

My lyrics and a long prompt got 30 seconds from Udio, adding 4 more sections and pruning them down to what I was looking for. My first collaboration with an AI is quite professional sounding stuff that I could not have played or sung this well. I think this is a song that I made since I wrote the lyrics and the long prompt and made many desicions all the way from the start to the finished song. This will probably become the most used way to make nice shiny tracks for mass consumption next year, but I think that handmade music will be made because it is nice to do and the machine is a ...machine. ... maybe... but there is still time to dream!

October Wind

When I was in infant school my class was a ragbag bunch of scruffy working class urchins, self included.  National health glasses held together with band aids, hand-me-down clothes, bruises, jam sandwiches.  There was a kid in that class who was very quiet, often absent.  Good at reading.  Good at running.  Kept himself to himself.  Sat at the back, never made eye contact.  Never put his hand up.

Turns out he was very deaf and spending a lot of time in hospital with operations of various sorts.

When he was seven he was given a hearing aid - huge thing the size of a transistor radio that sat in his shirt pocket.  The story I heard was that when he first went home with it his mam took him for a walk down a country lane to try it out.  He was very upset that it was obviously broken - all sorts of odd scratching and buzzing noises.

They eventually realised that he was hearing insects for the first time.  

Imagine that.

Often wonder what became of him.

A symphony of crushing silence

Social cripple loner ‘neath a joker’s plastic smiles
Silent rippled mannequin, cartoon audio spastic child

A trip to day-sound from his silent night
Demolishing all his expectations
Sweet blushing kiss of angels’ eyes
One of them has turned the volume dial
To flush his muted domicile
And hear the crickets singing on the chamomile

So cast the light fine, on the deafened child’s mind
And let the sound shine as the clearest of days
A new world’s flight is leaving dark behind
Clarity rebound leads the way

I've just discovered an old music CD that I created decades ago. I now have a selection of these tracks on SoundCloud.

I created this track around 25 years ago using a "Cubase Sequencer" running on an "Atari ST" computer. The "Sound Module" used was the "Yamaha TG300".

The track image shows my music equipment that I used around 1995 to create this track.

When I was a choir boy at our local church, I was allowed to practice on their church organ. I even played for a small wedding once. 

I managed to get through the traditional wedding march by Mendelssohn. However, I always wanted to play this wedding march but it was much too difficult. 

It is usually reserved for Royal Weddings when played in a large Cathedral. 

The only way I could play it was to use my Cubase sequencer and record the parts separately at a very slow speed. 

I’m still very impressed how authentic this sounds if listened to on headphones, especially when the pedal part comes in.
