Cheeky Sneakers celebrates its grand opening in style as Denham Audio bring in a few friends for a masterclass in breakbeat-rooted club music. Opening track Single Minded, featuring the prolific Coco Bryce is a playful take on classic house tropes with a dark, ravey twist while the raw, stripped-out roller So Good, produced with fellow Club Glow affiliate Mani Festo nods back to the original jungle sound.On the flip, another CLub Glow affiliate enters the fray as LMajor assists on the cascading warehouse firecracker Down On Me while rising Japanese producer Kazuho joins to helpclose proceedings on the hyperactive Love Addiction.‘Denham Audio & Friends’ drops Friday 23rd April, via Cheeky Sneakers.

Third outing for London based X-Kalay comes from Melbourne's very own son Rudolf C stepping up with his highly anticipated debut EP. 
From the jagged electro tinged "Seattle City Light", through the drifting hazy levels of "Blacked" to the kicked back paradise of "Untitled Monday", Rudolf serves up a masterclass in blissed out backyard house. Undulating Juno soundscapes and warbling 303s merge seamlessly with roughed up rhythms punched through the MPC.  This one's for the heads on the dusty trail, the midnight drive, and the pacific swells. Those in the back seat with the window down and the feet up... Here is "Pisces" our fave track from the EP, a deep and melancholic wonder !

PREMIERE : Rudolf C - Pisces

Although his last record for Hypercolour – Who Knows (Where Love Lives) – is still very much owning dancefloors worldwide, Last Magpie is back with another sound package on sister imprint, Losing Suki. This time we find the mysterious producer in slightly heavier, bassier mode, toying with deep house tropes and myriad UK influences in equal measure.

‘1995’ opens the EP with darting, brightly coloured synths shooting in all directions from a churning percussive clatter that runs up the middle. Bass stabs keep things nice and airy feeling, and fractured vocals bring the all-important human and hooky element to the track. Despite being restless and itchy, it still manages to retain a certain house-y soul.

Then, ‘Hypno’ channels some dark energy through woodblock hits, STL style, as ripples of a human voice roll to the edge of the track and beyond. All tightly coiled and kinetic, it’s an eerie and spacious track to take the mood of any dancefloor down a notch or two.

Next, ‘Roots’ is a subtle take on a tried and tested garage template with swirling, backward sounding LFOs snaking around beneath sharpened chord stabs and a touch of the Balearic synth work he is fast becoming known for.

Finally, ‘Fallen’ turns right in on itself. Introverted and sombre, wallowing and watery, it comes from deep under the surface with only the thinnest rays of light permeating a skeletal percussive rhythm. The occasional melodic snowflakes that also rain across the face of the arrangement are bliss and beautiful in equal measure. Though Last Magpie is adept at crafting catchy bangers, this one might just be his most assured track to date.

We couldn’t be happier to put this disc out there. Kush’s first time on wax (his Strictly 4 My CDJs series on his Bandcamp site is essential) is four tracks that just relentlessly provide for the DJ in you. Representing the new era of NYC dance music along with artists like AceMoMa and DJ Swisha, mixing footwork and other influences with classic house and techno forms to get busy.

The whole 12” is lethal stuff that recalls Dance Mania at it’s most melodic and spaced out, or prime-time Boo Williams. “Earth Note” pulls bright synths thru swinging Chi foundations, “Ari Dub” rocks the bells and the bass in Bronx fashion, “Worldly Rhythm” piles UR melodies and techno grandeur on a vicious bassline, and “Reso” closes things out with a devastating mixer full of blue-hot string work. Relentless and essential. TIP TIP TIP!

Anz makes her Hessle Audio debut with a club-ready three track EP, following releases on the label by Pearson Sound and Pangaea in July. Lead track 'Loos In Twos (NRG)' goes turbo, with a ruffneck bassline, clattering breakbeats and dramatic rave stab breakdowns all combining to memorable, killer effect. On the B side, 'Gary Mission' gets loose with disorientating flanged FX and a wriggling low end, with the minimal beat track 'Stepper' using sharp vocal snippets and chest-rattling sub to light up the dance. Anz is a DJ and Producer based in Manchester (via London, Liverpool and Madrid). Renowned for her genre-spanning productions and mixes, she unearths the links between Electro, UK Garage, Jungle and more, underpinning a versatile take on contemporary UK club music that is as bright as it is unpredictable....
