“Once Again” was released last year on Phoria‘s debut Bloodworks EP, and since, the UK outfit has been releasing some stunning material, but for the Rotterdam-based house producer, Layzie, timeliness is of no importance, as we find his alleviating touch added to the once downtempo affair. Through vocal pitch-shifting, shakers, and slow builds all integrated into the classical house-kick, we find a remix that builds boldly on the original without smothering it in a load of cacophony. So as the three-day weekend winds down for all you Americans, there’s no better way to let the nighttime close than with Layzie’s sweet, sincere-sounding house edit.

LEO ISLO returns to LAMP following his debut song 'Feelings' with a soulful, uptempo release in 'Higher Living'.

The track opens with an array of floating synths, pitch bending chords and echoing piano stabs that create an introspective environment before being cut by a deep, gritty bassline. A dampened kick and house-infused percussion elements accentuate the songs main groove, building and layering elements into a hazy cloud before releasing the production back into dance territory.

Islo’s signatures vocals are airy and soothing, carefully guiding you through each chorus and generating a hypnotic harmony with the core melody. 'Higher Living' measures up to its name with lyrics focused on vice-laden escapism and a careless desire to live inside a dangerous fantasy.

LEO ISLO - Higher Living

Grounded in techno, tech house and progressive, Andreia and I bring flavours of both the thriving Melbourne and Lisbon underground scenes together to create a sound that we feel is smooth, driving and pretty damn fresh.

In what I can only described as ‘the cutest fucking DJ romance, pretty much ever’, we had a fluke meeting early one morning at Europa Sunrise in Portugal’s capital Lisboa after finishing our retrospective sets. We immediately connected over a mutual love for tough, driving and emotive dance music.

Barely a week later, we played our first set together at the recently opened Micro Club in Lisboa. Holly shit it was fun! Besides the perfect fusion of sound, our chemistry together behind the decks was electric and I’m pretty sure the energy radiating from the two of us could be felt right throughout the club.

Fast-forward two months and we’re lucky enough to be together again, this time in Melbourne. 

We’ve laid down a set of just some of the tracks we’ve both loving at the moment. This is one direction of about 100 we could of taken the mix, so stay tuned for more ;)
