Roy Ayers - Searching (TREW edit)

This is a cover of Ronnie Foster's Mystic Brew which I arranged and on which I play drums. My arrangement and musical direction of this cover included deciding on the structure and which sounds and musical phrases to be used when. I was particularly excited to add a 13/8 section which you will hear in the song. In the recording, I play drums and a friend is playing keyboard. We recorded one take live with the drums, chords and bass line. Later, we recorded my friend playing the piano melody and solo which I layered over our live take. I also set up the microphones and helped mix the song with my music teacher using ProTools software. Enjoy!
