Virginia Is For Lovers (She Said Stay)

Written and performed on vintage analog synths including a Moog Model 15 system, this piece became the theme for Riggs National Bank in Washington DC.  The tune became quite popular and was added to the White House Orchestra repertoire and even arranged for bell choir.  It was also released as a 45 record single and sold as a fundraiser for the Girl Scouts!  It was my first commercial piece of music.

My daughter Grace manages a lab at Virginia Commonwealth University for the Engineering LIfe Sciences Dept.  In addition to being a biologist, she also has a degree in Dance.  Recently she asked me to write a piece for a choreography she designed for the opening of an exhibit at the Science Museum of Virginia.  The exhibit has to do with mitochondrial research, the batteries that drive cells.  That brings us to the name - Energy for Grace.  Enjoy

Friday Night

The Coral Reef was composed as a contemporary dance piece called "Coral Reef Fever" depicting the life, death and rebirth of a Coral Reef.  Coral reefs are rapidly diminishing due to global warming which is now scientifically accepted as a human perpetuated problem. To bring awareness to this fact, NOAA and The Science Museum of Virginia commissioned this piece I wrote.  It is my hope, you will experience the sea life, including fishes and divers, weave through this music.  Midway, the coral will die, but it will return through the replenishing of heat tolerant organisms as divers replant in the reef and the fishes return. The piece is the accompanying music for the Richmond Forum 2016-17 Open. The Richmond Forum is the largest non-profit lecture series in the US, presenting speakers who are world leaders and innovators in the arts and sciences. They produce five sold-out programs each season for 4500 attendees. They have hosted Margaret Thatcher, Bill Clinton, Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg to name a few.
