Composed completely on the fly. I had a theme of The Little Mermaid and some Debussy in my mind and ended up with a minor blues for contrast.

The haunting harmony of this music really stuck in me while I was playing Persona 4 Golden and I just had to make a deeper piano rendition of it. It brings good memories! Who else here played it?

02 - La Danse

Romantic, whimsical to listen, but not to play. Inspired mostly by Chopin's Op.25 No.6 (Thirds) and Op. 25 No. 11 (Winter Wind)

03 - Etude in Contrasts

Dreamy sequence with guitar-like arpeggios. Hand motions are somewhat inspired by Nobuo Uematsu's Silence Before the Storm as arranged by Vincent Lo and performed by Verdegrand https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3dmDWFM0ms

04 - Guitar Clouds

At times dense and at times playful, this Nocturne is clearly inspired by Chopin's Nocturnes. The lower ever-descending voice borrows from Yann Tiersen, though! 5/12

05 - Nocturne

Hyperactive yet strict, this short piece is inspired by Amilton Godoy (Zimbo Trio) and Nikolai Kapustin. I've always admired how they somehow manage to turn the piano into a drum set.

06 - Spring, Drums, Math

A mesmerizing, never changing melody accompanied by a soft harmony shared by both hands

07 - Romance

Half-improvised vamp run, reminiscent of Keith Emerson, Tigran Hamasyan and Hiromi Uehara

08 - Frenzy

Clearly inspired by Debussy and Ravel, this impressionistic piece uses an "open" harmony to suggest a sense of longing or an unanswered calling.

When two hands quarrel with each other (but end up fine)

Giving the left hand a break from all that hard work

11 - Sonatina for the Right Hand

The 12 Pieces for Piano project finishes with a stubborn right hand that won't concede its groove to the left's different rhythms, keys and moods. Who will win?
