Caboverdianismo, the debut album of pianist Carlos Matos, contains traditional music from Cape Verde, mixed with latin- American music and Jazz, with firm Capeverdean roots. This mix gives a new sound that most listeners will appreciate and gives an introduction to the Capeverdean music.

The album Caboverdianismo is dedicated to his uncle Duca de Nhô Pitra (Pedro Doroteia Morais Júnior) who inspired and stimulated him to go into music. Some icons of Capeverdean musicians has participated on this cd like Paulino Vieira, Boy Gé Mendes and the late Luís Morais, who inspired Carlos to develop the Capeverdean music, in other words to put his ‘Caboverdianismo’ in practice.

Carlos is pianist, keyboardist, producer, arranger and composer. After graduating on both Classical music and World Music, he became a well respected artist around the globe in different music genres in Cape Verde (where his parent came from) as a producer, session player and conductor of the National Orchestra of Cape Verde, Latin-Jazz with the group Nueva Manteca, Rumbata and Timbazo. With the tango group Tango Extremo he toured in Russia and China and recorded the acclaimed album ‘The Mattheus Passion’ in Tango style. In 2005 he became a member of the blackgospelgroup Inside Out and since then has been active in the Dutch Christian music scene for Gerald Troost, Talitha Nawijn, Reni en Elisa, Orville and many others. In 2008 he founded along with percussionist Nils Fischer the group CaboCubaJazz where he mixes Afro-Cuban music with Capeverdean music and Jazz. With this band he has been touring around the globe (e.g. Canada, Cuba, Thailand, Malaysia, Germany)
