History of Valentine's Day
Officially, Valentine's Day has existed for more than 16 centuries.
According to one of the most popular legends, about 269 the then ruler of the Roman Empire, Emperor Claudius II, banned the legionaries of his army from marrying.
However, the emperor's order did not interfere with the soldiers' love. And the Rev. Valentine secretly married the Legionaries to their elect, without fear of the wrath of the Empire.
The tragedy of the situation was also that Valentine himself fell in love with the prisoner. On the eve of the execution, the priest wrote a farewell letter to the girl, in which he spoke of his love, and signed "your love." This love letter was read after he was executed.
From there came the card with a declaration of love - "Valentine".
