cycle is a record about time, repetition, routine and habits.

built on the same sets of loops, drums and synths, each track was an opportunity to write something continuous and familiar but in a different manner for each piece.

this limitation has been a key to develop and craft detailed layers and sound design to give songs entitled auras and personality to further the idea of our relationship with time and habits; a love/hate story.

'cycle functions as both break and culmination in nunu’s greater body-of-work. It is a love/hate story about time and habits, and a debut album that explores the French artist’s capacity to imbue individual works with personality and aura. Having spent the past several years releasing disorientingly beautiful edit packs and collections of archival material (from 2013 to 2019), cycle also operates as a reintroduction to an artist who is at their best when transforming the personal into spectacularly original sonic formations.

cycle has also provided nunu with an opportunity to write in a continuous and familiar manner, yet with a different set of contingencies for each track. Like past nunu works, including 2016’s Mind Body Dialogue and 2018’s SCUM, cycle revels in dissonance, but also takes the time to explore minute textural egresses and rhythmic blackholes. While a clear step away from past dancefloor-intended tracks, nunu’s progression through nine “cycles” is no less physically demanding.

Built on a single set of loops, drums and synths, the album has been constructed from a set of self-imposed limitations. Yet, rather than strive for an impossible minimalism, cycle is instead full of intriguing diversions, impossibly layered textures and sequence-after-sequence of drum-and-vocal intrusions. The result hues closer to nunu’s sonic vision than any previous release, an unholy assemblage that is as much a record about method and time as it is the artist’s relationship to their own tools and body' words by Gabe Meier

The mix follow the moment of the Great Purge from Heaven where all the « deviant impure » angels are sent to hell. 
Some of them during their fall catch up to a place between heaven and hell, kept secret. This is a kind  of « Autonomous Fallen Angels Squat » . Nobody know exactly when it was founded. (the rumor said it was Mephisto himself that build it before creating hell, to explore the lost of his ex-heavenly powers and the gain of pain and torture closer to the human experience)

They still have eternal  life but they are now far enough from heaven to feel pain. 
Most of them become addict to the pain as it’s  the only feeling they can still relate to, belonging to no world but the on in their head. Some of them enjoy it  it to the fullest and maintain the place in a post-heaven organisation.
Evolving in a complexity of mixed feelings due to their natural essence in contrast of living in an autonomous place, they live all together in this secret abandoned temple in the purgatory.
The mix follow some fallen angels in their daily life and thoughts in this temple.
