I liked this whole track with its unexpected changes and sound design elements.

Moth With Wet Wings

Written for Nils Frahm's Piano Day

While walking the dog one day I came across a dumped piano.  I scraped the exposed strings and recorded it on my phone.

I sampled it and have combined it here with excerpts from improvisations I have done over the year, building a collage and hopefully giving that old joanna some life after death.

Caro’s musical mission is to marry opposing forces. Chaos/control, the pretty/the ugly, the digital with the organic, the introspective with the overt and cheeky.

A keen musician from a young age, it was Caro’s father’s work as a forensic sound engineer that introduced her to the electronic side of audio. There was always a sense of fear-tinged fascination about the noises that would emanate from his home office: recordings from prison cells, planted cameras, phone and wire taps.

An internship with the ‘Snoops’, the federal police sound engineers, accidentally got Caro hooked on the production side of electronic music. When they didn’t have her soldering cables, they let her use their sound labs during lunch breaks. 

Perhaps surprisingly, Caro’s music counters this broody origin-story with a heavy dose of playful, infectious, deconstructed club tracks that feel simultaneously handmade and electronic.
