Shambhala Music Festival 2022

Such a special honour to play this cherished and delicate time slot after the dons @kahn and @sicariasound. This was the first time I hadn't made a concrete plan for a proper gig, just felt into the energy of that morning and this is what it summoned. 
Sub focused and melodic...a dash of melancholy and nostalgia.

OTR8: SUMMER JAMS 2022

This year's summer instalment comes in at almost 2 and a half hours of thoughtfully curated dub-influenced multigenre electronic music. Traversing a wide range of tempos and genres from 86 up to 160 BPM, these tracks are all held together by a common thread of dubbed out sound design. Spacious and bass heavy energy, lush echoes, reverb and soulful spirits all throughout. Hope you enjoy as always.

About Okiro
Growing up immersed in BC’s music festival scene from a young age Okiro quickly found his love for underground bass music. In 2014 he began Djing under the alias “feeals” and has continued evolving his sound and original production.

Largely influenced and inspired from the sounds of UK’s sub-heavy dubstep, grime, rap and r&b, Okiro's sets range bpm and vibes while predominantly staying within the deeper sounds of 140 bass music. With an ear for quality sounds and known by fans for curating something special that lasts far beyond the dancefloor. 

Playing sets at festivals like Shambhala, Luminosity, Burning Man and Oregon Eclipse, to countless shows and events locally and internationally Okiro has made a name for himself within the electronic music scene.

Since releasing their debut LP Lowlands with Limbo Tapes in 2021, Caro has been refining a highly textural, loop-oriented style of composition. Smoked-out sequencing combines with faded percussion in a dimly shrouded melancholy. Field recordings nod ceremoniously into sub-infused harmonics. Technical considerations yield, letting a refined attunement to the aesthetic quality of music take the helm.
Caro has shared sounds at a variety of acclaimed and forward thinking festivals across North America, including a notable live hardware performance at Mutek in 2022. They have been booked to play alongside talents like Space Afrika, DJ Plead, Ulla, Loraine James, Azu Tiwaline and Phelaeh, and continue to transform and blur the boundaries between ambient meditation and experimental bass music via their radio show The Tea since 2018. 
Their most recent album Nods of Infinite Tenderness was released independently in 2023.
