This is a live recording for Virtual Burning Man 2021. Completely selected on the fly. 

This curation is something different for me. Yet, it embodies well my ongoing curiosities. Most of this music is influenced by the strongly emerging Amapiano/Gqom/Afrobeat culture we are witnessing at this time. The novel grooves, rhythm complexities, staccato, syncopated punchiness, raw power and fire inducing feelings; Take notice, this is a strong movement.

People speak of the roaring 20’s with such allure and romance; highlighting the music, the parties and the reckless abandon while ignoring the hardships that led to that overwhelming need to connect and let loose.  Now, here we are in the 20’s again, and just like 100 years ago we find ourselves in the midst of a pandemic, forced to keep to ourselves thus lacking that daily connection. Times are hard, people are exhausted, and the future is uncertain- but the pulse within us remains.  The magnetism of a steady groove or a throbbing bassline still pulls at our soul. We may not be gathering in sweaty rooms right now but the new 20’s have just begun. Music still has the power to synchronize us- even when apart- to lift our spirits and move us as one.  Fan the flames, ride the tide, move to the rhythm. Pulse.
