This is a track i worked on for a while with Luke Brown (singer) and Lee Mulyahy (drums). It was recoded in a semi profesional studio environment through the Soundcraft Ghost and control 24 desks using Pro Tools 8 HD as the central DAW. In its entirety the song was recorded and rerecorded dozens of times, in different studios, using different microphones and techniques. Time was spent comparing the results with not only the original Oasis version but also with early Kinks songs (The Importance Of Being Idle is heavily influenced by bands such as The Kinks and The La La's, in both composition and recoding style) in particular 'Sunny Afternoon' and 'Dead End Street'. Microphones used in this recording include AKG C414's and RODE NT2000's (vocals). E609's, Sm57's and 414's (guitar's). RE20, D112, SM57, MD421, 414'S and 606's (drums).

These Days Of Regret

This is a 'campfire mix, by what i mean the song can be performed around a campfire with minimal acoustic instruments. I may work on a more epic orchestral version in the future. Still some issues with vocals, i put a de-esser on the vox aux and it has sorted out the hiss that i wanted to losse but some of the pronunciations have sufferd as a result. Also must add, way under-predicted how hard it would be to sink folk to 180 d'n'b tempo, it could be tighter but it what it is and i had fun. Enjoy and comment!   

Illegal War (campfire mix)

This is a single progression, 4 chords in the key of G Major. Very low energy vocals and there are a few instances where the key slip is so bad its quite hard to listen to however, i opted to keep the vocals as they are i think it adds a certain level of bewilderment. Its in a tempo of 140 (hiphop) which gives a nice swing to it, further reinforcing the single progression policy. So the grove of the guitar and brass is contrasting the purposely half arsed vocals. Is This Home ?

I took the dive on this one and sang without any kind of Autotune or pitch shift (mainly because my free trail has ran out). As far as structure goes, this is probably the most basic composition i have ever constructed. Its basically all the triads in C Major (except B Dim), i'm not trying to push new boundaries on complex composition, or vocal ability, this is simply a heart felt message to all those who have been there when it mattered, and it has took me literally years to be able to put it in words. So thank you........


Here's To Friends

This a trip to the past. One of the first thing i ever wrote within a DAW at a time when i knew relatively little about composition. The point of this arrangement as far as i can recall, was to contrast the laid back acapela of Chris Martin with as 'horrific' and 'chaotic' instruments and arrangement as i could muster. I could be honest and voice my motivation for decimating such a widely loved song, but my opinions shall remain just that for now.

I'm a music explorationist. I have genuine passion to learn and expand on what i have already learnt, and will never turn down a viable learning experience, wether it be a collaboration with other like minded individuals, or an area of music production not yet explored. I am willing to help and advise at any level as well as accept constructive criticism and recommendations from any who feel they may have a helpful technique or approach i have not yet explored. 

I tend to use Pro Tools 8 for most of my music although i have used Cubase, Logic and Audition in the past. As for the future goes i am currently constructing a website to contain all my work so far in one place, including my post production work with the accompanying videos. My passion for free expresion through the medium of music will die the day i do.
