Thomas has allowed us to share this track as a musical apology for the delay with the Gorgeous Bully / Something Anorak split 7" that was due out in June. Due to extreme delays at the pressing plant, frustratingly we won't have the records until the end of September. This is obviously horrible for us, the bands and of course anyone that pre-ordered. Hopefully these two and a half minutes of fuzzy brilliance will go some way to thanking you for your patience.

The trick is to make a confession entertaining. At its core, Fran’s music is about sharing a truth -–telling it, confessing it, yelling it—in the service of human connection. Or, as Jacobson puts it, “I feel that I am a songwriter for the same reason I wanted to be an actor. I want to tell the truth. I want to challenge myself to get closer and closer to the core of an experience, an emotion- I want to say it, sing it, in a way that says exactly what it is. I cry when I write songs because I am constantly making discoveries, about myself, about the world, about the best way to convey and connect and get closer.”

Philadelphia’s Carroll (two R’s, two L’s) was born in late 2011 when frontman Brian Hurlow started composing melancholic pop songs that caught the ear of college classmate and drummer Charlie Rudoy. The lifelong musicians clicked and moved in together to a house on Carroll Avenue, coining the psychedelic, shoegazey-pop band’s name. After guitarist Max Kulicke and bassist Charles McClung came on board for the live show, Carroll started turning heads. Since the release of their Needs EP, they’ve become a mainstay on The Current, the Twin Cities’ triple A NPR affiliate station, and were named Best New Band by the two biggest local arts publications. In February of 2014, the band escaped the frigid Minnesota winter to Philly’s Miner Street Recordings where they cut the Carroll full-length in 17 days with the expertise of engineer Jonathan Low, whose albums produced for the National, (Mr.) Twin Sister,and Local Natives have reached critical acclaim and notable industry recognition. With Hurlow‘s subdued yet distinct vocals accompanied by Rudoy’s punctual drums and all-around alluring riff vignettes, Carroll’s self-titled debut will leave you bewitched. After a string of festival gigs this summer sharing stages with the likes of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Sylvan Esso, Polica, Low, Carroll heads out on a  month-long tour in support of their forthcoming LP.
