You’re walking out onto the D-floor, and as you wade through the sea of gyrating bodies you catch the gaze of your friend in the crowd. She gives you the stink eye; you instantly match energy and reciprocate with a scrunched up bass face. What’s coming out of the speakers is almost impossible to comprehend, and as you look around at everyone moving you just know this record is one to pay attention to.

Today we are welcoming back one of the pioneers to the Box of Cats sound (even though she might not know it), Mz Worthy. Her latest cut Make Me is peak time festival shit. A big warped acid bass and catchy vocal cuts in and out of an absolute menace of a kick drum. There's something about this that really throws us back to the electro house days. Each element has been crafted perfectly, not overcooked - just the way a dance record should be.

Our froth levels are at 11 for this one, and if we aren't careful we may need to sit down. Get around this asap!

The new EP and second Freaks release from one of our newest family members Max Metzinger is not just an absolute banger, but also a statement to all fans of our label. 
„Be A Freak“  impresses with its detuned vocal and its catchy groove and is a guarantee for a full dance floor! We are happy to have Max on board again and are excited to hear what you say about this track. 
The EP is rounded off with „All I Do“, which stands out with its poppy vocals and its cool sound design. A track that catches your ear and stays in your head. A big thanks to Max for this great EP and to all the FREAKS out there: Have fun listening and dancing!

-How long have you been creating music?
We have been creating music as Record Club since 2020, but Dan has a background in drumming and has been producing since 2015.

-What do you use to make your tracks?
We use Ableton as our main DAW

-How and when did you first discover Dirtybird?
I went to Imagine festival in 2017 with a few friends and my one buddy wouldn't stop talking about the fact we had to go to the Dirtybird Player’s Stage. Safe to say the music I heard at that stage was a catalyst in our journey as Record Club.

-Which Dirtybird artist would you want to collaborate with the most?
Dan: Collaborating with Eprom would be awesome; his song “Regis Chilbin” gave me the realization that you need to take creative risks in music even if it might be a polarizing sound (or song)
Alex: Kyle Watson would be my choice. I’m constantly listening to house sets where I’ll hear a song that I’ll end up looking up and more often than not it's a Kyle Watson track.

-If your entire life was a movie, what title would best describe you?
Dan: “Making 5 Million Songs Everyday In My Head”
Alex: “Getting Comfortable Being Uncomfortable”

-What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
Dan: Hard Summer 2019 seeing Anti-Up
Alex: EDCNY 2012 First festival I attended. The music, atmosphere and production blew me away and made me realize this was an environment that I wanted to be a part of.

-What species of bird best describes you and why?
Dan: A Dalmatian Pelican because they might look intimidating (largest species of pelican) but are extremely graceful and majestic. Also, their flocks fly in perfect synchronicity (similar to being syncopated as a drummer).
Alex: Mockingbird because of their ability to adapt to different environments and showcase a variety of skills.
