Say What? 191 is the last release of another exciting year for the label and we wanted to close with a huge bang! Therefore we are happy to welcome Swedish techno producer MarAxe with a stellar EP called 'Pyramid'.

The title track starts off with MarAxe’s typical rolling, raw and unforgiving energy. Chords emerge from the deep and build up in perfect sync - a true testament to the power of raw techno in its purest form, a reminder of the genre’s origins and glimpse into the future.

'Subatomic' is next up on the release and doesn’t let the power fade away, weaving a narrative of dystopian futurism with driving rhtyhms, intricate synth patterns and undulating basslines just the way we like it.

'Larma' follows with an unrelenting onslaught of pounding kicks and hypnotic sequences mixed with an abrasive fusion of metallic clanks and surgings synths, pushing the boundaries of sonic intensity.

'Jura' is the last track of the EP and a declaration of techno’s unrelenting spirit and a praise to the power of raw and unfiltered sound with its hypnotic groove and rolling explosive energy.

Japan’s Risa Taniguchi continues her streak of releases on CLR with the ‘Wakes From Coma’ EP. The tastemaker returns a month after her last outing on Chris Liebing’s label, 'So Loud'.

Risa Taniguchi’s 'Wakes from Coma' two-tracker on Chris Liebing’s CLR is a powerful piece of frenzied techno, with looming synth stabs and incendiary hi-hats piling on the pressure while its rolling beat powers on. The hard-hitting 'Mental Rut' ups the stakes next with distorted walls of noise, hammering kicks, and swirling synth textures that obscure the chopped-up vocal stabs. The Tokyo-based Risa Taniguchi last appeared on CLR in Spring with the ‘So Loud’ EP, which won support from artists like Dave Clarke, Kelly Lee Owens, and Luke Slater, following her first arrival on Liebing’s label in 2022 alongside Black Asteroid, the ‘Acid Flesh’ EP. Mathys Lenne explores new and immersive techno sonics with his ‘Detlev’ EP on Mutual Rytm.

French DJ/producer Mathys Lenne’s artistic vision is rooted in his deep connection to rhythm. Telling stories with his sounds while drawing inspiration from poetry and cinema and blending hypnotic textures with raw intensity, his music is widely supported across the scene via labels like Mord, Hayes and more. Across five vinyl cuts and three digital bonuses, the four-deck wizard keeps it deeply atmospheric with his label debut on SHDW’s Mutual Rytm imprint, combining elements of psychedelic rock, unique voice samples and saturated synths to create a sound that feels immersive and unrestrained in contrast to the fast-paced, visceral techno he has become known for.

‘Detlev’ opens up with hefty kicks that demand you quicken your step, while industrial effects and creepy design brings the detail that makes the track pop. The classy ‘Natural Born Killers’ rides on firm kicks with loopy percussive details tightly coiled, ensuring you are forever on edge as the drums march on. ‘Choose Your Pill’ is a stripped-back and pulsing deep techno cut with deft synths that peel off the groove, before ‘Untidy Echo’ delivers a cavernous sound with sparse hits and low-end rumbles that place you in the centre of an underground cavern. ‘Enfer ou Ciel’ featuring D.E.S brings a sense of melancholy in the occasional string sounds and watery droplets that float over more frictionless, meditative beats - while the trio of digital bonus cuts brings moody subterranean rollers ranging from snaking and dubby to more drum-led and eerie tones.

It's got some Aboriginal vibes to it, as an homage to my late Aunt who used to work with the Aboriginals in Katherine in Australia. She was even given an Aboriginal name, she was so deeply respected by the tribal leaders.
