It’s been a little while but we are back and happy to bring you the first PAX Podcast of 2022! This also marks the beginning of more regular uploads, as we will start releasing a podcast every month.

To kick things off we have a mesmerizing mix by @Idashro. Born in Istanbul, based in Amsterdam, I-RO is stepping into the Dutch Scene. Making her debut at a rave just 8 weeks ago, she already displays a level of quality and confidence in her sound that is not often seen in upcoming dj’s. I-RO’s sound is mysterious, capturing and expressive. Groovy basslines join hypnotic patterns and melodies to gently guide you towards a deeper realm. For I-RO music is both a way to find yourself and to escape. This is important because in today’s world we deal with so many constraints whereas music means liberty. Listening to different genres of music throughout life appealed to different parts of I-RO’s personality, which in turn allowed her to discover herself as a whole.

When we asked I-RO about the thoughts and feelings surrounding the mix she said this: ‘’This is the musical conveyance of an insomniac girl’s mind. She scrutinizes her days and thoughts trying to fall asleep. Later on, she enters a dreamy state where her thoughts become imaginations scrambled with some voices and visions from her subconscious… She wakes up. Did she ever fall asleep and dream or was it all made up in her mind?’’

So join I-RO in between the beats and dream away for 2 hours…

OPH is one to keep an eye on. Vinyl enthusiast, this french DJ started his musical journey by writing reviews about the electronic scene of his hometown, Lyon. After moving to Berlin in 2014, he quickly joined the Stützpunkt collective as a resident, opening him doors to clubs like Arena, Grießmühle or ://about blank.

His sets are reflecting his large and diverse musical culture and are shaped to musically recreate a palette of emotions felt on the dancefloor. Forever in search of new sounds to play with, he sees mixing as a form of plastic art, combining different textures and grooves to induce a state of introspection.

On the side, he shares the booth with Chami, his close friend and music half. Together they run a Face 2 Face act, a special format that got them a successful gig in Berghain recently. In combination with a new residency in the Sinxergy family, you can expect more to come from OPH in the near future.

Today, we are releasing @juliemuzik's awe-inspiring closing set in the Bovenkamer at the Lupercalia edition of PAX-ROMANA back in February. 

Making her second appearance at PAX-ROMANA, Julie showcased her signature sound characterized by deep, hypotonic, percussion-driven techno, maintaining a BPM range of 130-137. Her performance left a profound impact, captivating the audience and taking them on an unforgettable journey. What a ride & we cant wait to have her back.

I hope you enjoy my closing set from Studio31's party at Couple from December 2023. 

It was a lovely experience hanging out with the Studio31 crew and their friends. They put on a home cooked meal for around 30 of us at the venue which was a wholesome way to begin the evening. It was a good chance to connect with people and to get to know Biemsix and Ignez.

The crowd was really fun and receptive to me playing my style. Thanks to everyone who came and especially to those who stayed until the end. Coupoleis a great venue and a true pleasure to play in. Having such massive subs right at your back was a full body experience to say the least.

There were some pre-set nerves prior to playing. For me, this set was important as it was my first booking since moving to London. I wanted to make a good impression whilst maintaining an authentic and experimental sound. After the first few mixes, I had found my groove and were we’re off and flying, and a I achieved what I had set out to do.

Sam Coates took to techno like a diligent pupil, falling in love with the genre through labels like CLR in the late '00s. It didn't take long for the student to surpass his proverbial teachers. Almost immediately, the Manchester native was putting out pitch-perfect, functional techno records with everything intricately balanced. The requisite move to Berlin only sealed his fate as a future techno luminary, and by now, based in Kyiv, he's one of techno's most reliable, yet exciting, workhorses. Setaoc Mass records (and those on his label, SK_eleven) are minimalist but colossal, deceptively simple but not easy to pull off. 

We've praised him in these pages for his "sense of economy—how to get the hardest impact out of just a few elements," and that's the idea behind his RA Podcast as well. Put together from records old and new, and intricately layered, Coates's mix is like a time-travelling wormhole connecting disparate eras from techno, and highlighting the genre's most timeless attributes: mechanistic rhythms, careful pacing, rudimentary melodies made out of the strangest sounds and, of course, the power of the bass drop. It's hard to imagine anything that sounds more capital-T techno than this mix, which is a high compliment. It's easy to hear why his records and DJ sets are only more in demand from techno heads across the geographical and generational spectrum.

Her music reflects her organic growth and unique sound that sets her apart in the industry.
With appearance’s at Tresor Berlin, De School Amsterdam, RSO Berlin and many more, Jacklyn is definitely one to watch.

Having honed his DJing skills at some of his hometown’s finest clubs including Bassiani, Khidi, Mtkvarze and Cafe Gallery, the Georgian whizz merges elements of 90s-informed atmospheric techno with breaksy hybrids and acid-soaked groovers.
