I failed the backgammon relationship test on a date last night 
I think it’s safe to say that math will never help me win a guy
Not that I’m out to win a guy but if a guy should come my way
It might be nice to find one who could think it would be nice to stay

The dude loved backgammon he said he learned to play when he was ten
I find it hard to add beyond the fingers of my own two hands
And then there’s strategy another point where I do not excel
So in my head the point is moot the point is made clear as a bell


But then the point could be made that I used to be hard on myself
I may look confident but on the inside shaking off the shelf
I’d question every move I’d make each word I’d say each thing I’d do
I’d question everything about myself and figure so would you 


So when he walked me down the stairs out to my car to say goodnight
I didn’t put a lot of stock in calculating that goodbye
And when I heard my phone a stop sign from the house and saw the text
That said my dear you’re quite the kisser wonder when I’ll see you next


I guess this story has a lesson and here’s what I think it is
Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference tween a fizzle and a fizz
Like mama said to find a prince you have to kiss a lot of dudes
Or play backgammon sometimes even when you aren’t in the mood


But then the older that I get I think there’s something to be said
For waking up at peace so happily alone in my own bed
I find I’m pretty comfortable these days right here in my own skin
As it turns out I’m not concerned whether I’m out or if I’m in


So boys be warned bitches beware I am not armed I do not care 
I wear my heart out on my sleeve it doesn’t match my underwear
No ugly coffee table in the middle of my living room
I did not choose I do not want I am in charge I ride the broom
