A wonderful night at the gorgeous Pleasure Palace, reuniting with my Pinky Promise pals! I played a predominantly Latin set, starting off with some slower, sensual beats, and bringing up the heat to mix the Latin sounds with heavier beats as well as some amapiano and afrobeats thrown in and a few extra surprises!

This mashup of Quench and Unruly vibes brought together some of my fave flavours - mixing up the signature tropical stylings from the Quench scene with some infectious beats and electronic sounds to blend with the Unruly peeps!

Mattana is a multi-instrumentalist hailing from London, bringing dance music from  around the world to her eclectic sets. Mattana is a strong believer in the power of music  to unite and break down cultural boundaries, with her DJ sets reflecting her global  influences. 

Primarily combining Afro, Latin and Caribbean beats, she has played regularly in London bars and clubs such as Elektrowerkz, Brixton Hootenanny and the Jago, as well as at festivals including Boomtown, Wilderness, Tropical Pressure and Whirl-Y-Fayre. She is passionate about using music & dance to bring people together, playing for a range of feminist & queer events such as Pinky Promise, Popola and Body2Body, and is a resident DJ with Party in your Pants and Quench. Previously hosting a two-year radio show on Aaja Radio, she is also a regular collaborator with Love Carnival, Movimientos, Samedia Shebeen and Village Cuts. 

Mattana is also 1/2 of super-bass project MattaMinor with G Minor, hosting a monthly radio show on Patchouli Deep. Combining the dark sounds of underground rave with carnival carnage, the explosive union of energy brings together everything bass, from hyperbaile, dnb, techno, jungletek, bassline, UKG, gqom, breaks and much more.

In addition to DJing, she is a facilitator and event producer, specialising in producing community carnivals and events for young people. Mattana is a qualified dance therapist, and leads workshops and connective sessions incorporating music, movement and games to support people in expressing themselves and connecting with others.
