Dan Snaith is my hero.  Seriously though, I feel like every Caribou record has affected me in a different way, and inspired a different type of creativity out of me.  

Anyways, here's my remix of Sun, a song that is roughly four years old.  The band hosted a remix contest back when it was released, and I actually got the stems and submitted a remix with an older project (sadly, it didn't win).  But the song, and the whole record really, are still unbound by time, and with the announcement of the new Caribou record, I thought it could be a fun project to revisit the song.

That new Caribou record is coming out in October, and there's a big tour to go along with it.  So make sure you you go to http://caribou.fm to stay up to date.

Orris [Minimal Groove Concept]

2015 kept @Ambassadeurs extremely busy with a slew of EPs and his debut album – “Patterns” released on Lost Tribe Records.

Now back in the studio recording his second album, Mark is dropping this EP in the interim to keep the fans sweet. He wrote these tracks during an escape in the autumn from the city to the countryside. The change of scenery from concrete to wilderness is reflected in the more organic sounds on this 4 tracker, which was written with the bare minimum of equipment to hand, even sampling some old cassettes that were left behind in the cottage where he was staying.

so while a simpler and more stripped back approach was adopted on this EP, it’s still distinctively his sound neatly executed to see a great year out.

Branching out from Carroll’s signature cinematic style, his new track ‘Plateau’ commences with a wash of angelic vocal chops and frictionless synths, leading the song into much more intimate territory. The track presents an evolution of space and sounds as well as a pensive sadness as told best by Carroll;

'... most of the percussion and fx are made from recording the master channel or entire groups of instruments, and heavily processing them to create new material. This then gets re-recorded with more processing, and so on. 

It means that at a certain point in the compositional process, the piece starts to grow from and out of itself. No new samples are used - it's all contained with the sounds that have been used up to that point.

... there is a kind of melancholic feel in it, but a sort of cosy resolution in the closing section of the track"
