Chief Kaya, a badman with a laboratory perched up deep in the mountains of Tennesse, somewhere on the East Side of the US, has delivered to us some serious dance floor firepower. Opening up his EP with the crowd favorite 'Apex' things will sink into a deep and dark wonky abyss with monstrous bass stabs and a mystical atmosphere. Traces of hiphop can be found somewhere in this dark bass pool with 'Elements' with almost sort of hiphop B Side feeling to compliment 'Apex' and the next track on the EP, 'Extinction'. With 'Extinction' Kaya picks the rhythm up while keeps his signature swing in his dark array of basses, one can imagine the mad scientist at work in his lab while listening, the whirring sounds of electronic gadgets and the bubbling pots of boiling chemicals crackling and popping about. 'Checkmate' featuring Marlo, adds a nice twist to the EP switching the sounds up and delivering some contrast to the early, 'dark and mysteriousness' of the EP. The second collab on the EP 'Life' featuring Gutz, is the odd one of the bunch. Both Kaya and Gutz are hiphop heads and ended up turning, what started out as a dusbtep project into a straight hiphop roller! The tune is laced with a beatiful arrangement of 808 goodness, perfect tune to light one up to. Last but not least the long anticipated Wulf Remix of 'Apex', and what a remix it is. Apex, which is an already impeccable piece of dubstep mud pie, basically just had a barrel of rotten cherries dumped on it with this remix, which is perfectly okay to say, since the tune is so damn dirty. Pick up this EP, it is truly one of our best representations of the milc sound.
