Oxóssi Guest Mix [V.I.V.E.K & System Roots Radio Show]

Following on from their standout debut, Habitat, Maribou State return with a new single on Fat! Records – Got Me Down. Their sultry world is opened up further, muffled kicks building into deft housey vibes that glide around disorientating vocal hooks in a sonic universe brimming with character.

Remixes come from a crop of fine rising talent, Lancashire duo Bondax wrap the tune in their humid atmospherics, the rework from Pále offers a skewed spacious poise. Canadian HxdB brings things down a notch, ekeing languorous new qualities out of the samples. Jason Burns adds fizz and menace that shifts and swerves with tropical edge. The remix from OhMan! pulsates with classic vibes before revealing gnarly bass qualities.

With an official remix forthcoming for Two Bears (Southern Fried) in January alongside another for Wretch 32 on Ministry of Sound, 2012 is set to be a dazzling year for this immensely promising duo. 


Maribou State - Got Me Down

The 13th installment of the @strictly140 Guest Mix Series comes from the european don @hebbe-versteegh also known as HEBBE. 

I've been a massive follower of his creations for quite a while now, and with regular airplay on radio station's such as 'Rinse FM' (Youngsta's Show and N-Types Show, 'Radar Radio' (@SicariaSound and VIVEK's Show) and Sub FM (@strictly140 Show) you just know this young producer packs an absolute punch when it comes to production. 

I don't think I've come across a single track by Hebbe that I've disliked. Every track is a humble statement of love for the more deeper, more meditational side of 140bpm. Track's like 'A8X', 'Lemon Twist' and 'Skanking Alone' are all absolute percys for myself, the music is authentic and in my opinion, specially built for real sound systems.

Hebbe has a release on @unitythroughsound coming out July 27th. Make sure you cop the vinyl. He has formulated a very special guest mix for @strictly140, its a showcase of his own productions, remix's, original's and collaborations. It encompasses everything I hold close to my heart when it comes to music as a whole and especially within the realms of 140bpm. Have a listen!

Subway Recordings is no more. The biggest dubstep record label of The Netherlands recently announced to close doors. They leave behind a legacy in sound as they pushed a total of 45 releases, while they are going out with a banging final release on the 11th of May 2018. Bukez Finezt’ “Under Control” EP has been one of Subway’s most praised showpieces and it is now getting an impressive remix treatment, which proves the dubstep classic is today more relevant than ever. Obviously we couldn’t let this release pass by unnoticed so we got in touch with label owner Geoffrey van der Tuuk a.k.a. Nicon who proudly looks back on 10 years of Subway Recordings.

Southern Fried Records latest signing, Maribou State, are the ambient electronic double act making all the right noises.  Preferring to remain pretty much ungoogleable, the two turntable based musicians create beautifully elegant constellations of progressive sounds and melodies.
