An original piece of music developed by young people and students from York University's Community Music course. The students demonstrated traditional Chinese instruments, including Pipa and Guzheng and played music for the group which led to several group improvisations and the composition of this song.

 "愿 (Yuàn) - In Chinese, this word is commonly interpreted as meaning "desire, willingness, vision, blessing," and more. It holds a profoundly positive connotation, embodying people's heartfelt blessings and prayers for the future and our loved ones. 

Throughout this event, each of us willingly participated in every aspect, hoping to gain something from the experience while also offering positive energy to others. We eagerly anticipate the collaborative musical outcome that will result from our joint efforts... All of these aspects can be interpreted as a beautiful "愿" in China, representing something wonderful and unifying"

The song was written and recorded remotely by members of the Castaway/WEA music group during the summer term of 2020 over Zoom. The group wanted to create a song in a Country style with a space theme and have the lyrics reflect how they were feeling several months into the national lockdown.
