The Holy Fire

An Improvisation for a Glitchstrument was a piece originally conceived to showcase the power and versitility of the Cascade. The improvisation features the Cascade played through an Eventide TimeFactor delay unit, with the performer instructed to gradually feed each oscillator stage into the next over a set time. The stabbing rhythms that can be heard throughout te improvisation are the result of this, as the NAND gates fluctuate between true frequency modulation and digital amplitude modulation. In this recording, the performer attempts to evoke a dynamic soundscape, heavily relying upon the master volume control and killswitch. An Improvisation for a Glitchstrument is an exersise in entropy. As the Cascade patch becomes more complex over time, it becomes more difficult for the performer to truly control the instrument, as even the most sublte adjustment in one stage will profoundly impact the entire system at play. By the conclusion of the piece, one could even question if the performer is playing the instrument, or if the instrument is playing the performer...

This demo features the Monogon voltage controlled oscillator's raw wave output. The Monogon is recieving pitch cv from an Arturia Beatstep sequencer, and the pulse width and frequency modulation is being performed by a second Monogon. A Tetragon VCA is being used for final ouput and mixing of wave signals. This demo is intended to represent the pure and unadulterated audio produced by the Monogon, and no additional signal processing has occured other than what has been mention previously.

Monogon VCO demo

This demo features the Manchester Ultra voltage controlled filter processing raw square(0:00-2:12) and triangle (3:20-4:00) wave audio from the Monogon VCO, as well as the filter's own self oscilation capablities. The pitch cv is being supplied by an Arturia Beatstep, with modulation sources coming from a Mongon in LFO range and a Flux Ultra ADSR enevelope generator. This demo is intended to represent the pure and unadulterated filtering capablitity of the Manchester Ultra, so no additional signal processing has occurred.

This demo features the Tetragon voltage controlled amplifier being modulated via the Flux Ultra Envelope generator and a Monogon in LFO range. The first portion of the recording presents the envelope shaping capabilities of the Flux Ultra as various stagings and legnths of attack, decay, sustain, and release are configued for a variety of effects. The second portion of the demo presents the Tetragon's sonic abilites via amplitude modulation when a combine with an LFO, in this case the Monogon VCO's sinewave output.
