Composer/producer and @AlgebraRecords head Casually Here provides the fifth in a series of eight remixes of Emma-Kate Matthews' *(@ekmworks) 2020 EP 'Far Flung' with video art by Emma-Kate Matthews. 

Casually Here (Nic Nell) is a multidisciplinary artist, composer, sound designer & record producer with a background in art & mathematics. Recent projects producing Orlando Weeks' acclaimed 'A Quickening' album and his collaborative album 'Many Worlds' with Lawrence Hart released as a series of EPs on Scuba's Hotflush Recordings.

Emma-Kate Matthews is a London-based multidisciplinary artist, composer and architect and released the Far Flung EP on Algebra Records at the end of 2020 as a series of limited edition transparent lathe cut 12"s with handmade textile artwork and audio-reactive visuals. 

The remixes are being released once per week until the album is released in full on the 8th of December 2021 with remixes from Heavenly Stems, Julia-Sophie, Dampé, Eye Measure, Sunplus, Ben McDonnell and Emma-Kate Matthews herself.

Wales' @artschoolgirlfriend enlists composer-turned-producer @casuallyhere this month to remix the recently released lofi number 'Softer Side'.

“I've been a fan of Polly's music for a long time and 'Is It Light Where You Are' is one of my favourite albums from the past year so it has been an absolute honour to get to remix 'Softer Side'. The album and Polly's vocals in particular feel like a calm pool of water to dive into and I wanted to keep that tone at the core of it," said Casually Here on the rework, due out on August 5 via @fictionrecords.

To make the video for 'Slow Down' I projected tropical fish tank videos on youtube into a bath, splashing the water around with one hand and then filming with an iPhone 5s at 120fps in the other. I then slowed down the footage and edited it in Ableton. I really like the 'analogue'/practical digital effect which I'd have no idea how to make in CGI which ties in with the musical/visual ideas behind the record and the artwork of giving organic breath and movement to digital and a digital edge to the organic/analogue.

Hotflush Recordings present 'Wanderlust / Chimes' a collaborative EP from Lawrence Hart and Casually Here due 7th September. Both multi-instrumentalists based in London, the duo unite for a two-track package of glistening, melodic house. 

Lawrence Hart (aka Duncan Tootill) is a classically trained musician working with a broad spectrum of styles, who, under his solo moniker produces ambient-leaning house and electronica. He is one third of the Little Club act and a long-term collaborator of George Fitzgerald. Casually Here (aka Nic Nell) is an experimental composer and the label boss of Algebra Records, who’s debut album ‘Kept’ was released in 2015. 

‘Wanderlust’ is an atmospheric trip through glitching melodies and immersive harmonics replete with minute details. ‘Chimes’ opens with a serene soundscape, evolving into a chugging dose of sun-drenched house led by trippy vocals and an animated bassline.
