These are our favourite finds for February 2021. Lots of great artists and songs here!

Francois Cormier - quirky and talented Canadian artist, his page is full of gems.
Jacob DeBoer - another Canadian! Earnest & intense songs, his music has a really classic British guitar pop feel.
Bubba Loaf - another quirky find - a page of great songs - songs about cats (big yes from us!), cows and surfing Wildebeest among other assorted topics…
Default Sensor - from Ireland, this song reminds me of classic era Placebo.
Marcfedak - yet another Canadian!! Very talented guy - his page is a mix of quirky songs and some very cool instrumentals. And it's about time someone wrote a song about B flat.
Aine Parkes - from Galway. The 2 songs here sound like home recordings and that’s actually a big part of their charm. Aine has a real knack for a catchy melody that is still in your head days later. I’ve returned to her page a few times this month for a listen. 
Athauntes - very nice collection of low key folky / salon kind of songs. Great voice and I love the simple, intimate arrangements of her songs.
The Cerebral Paisley - retro rock from Adelaide Australia, the paisley is definitely apt here - a little bit of a  Hoodoo Gurus / You Am I feel?
Lastly an honourable mention to Fly Nightmares - a one man band using his iPad to create a slew of weird and wonderful music with lyrics in a made up language.

b flat is back

Possibly the first "new" song I had written in close to 20 years (about 4 months after moving to Nova Scotia in 2014), and definitely a first ever attempt at a slightly unusual time signature.

A song that strikes many First Chords in my abbreviated Song Book: 

(Out)spoken word madness/method inspiration from @rhys-rj-fraser and @prolixx_2020 ; overall experimental inspiration from both @lossketches and @terranjreinsel ; a touch of dreaminess and percussive sensibility inspired by @user-jacobdeboer ; and snaring up some old-school base influence from the ineffable Powers That Once Be known as King Crimson and Led Zep.

This is a song about selfishness and self-interest, and trying to understand the motivations and intentions behind love and living.

Thanks to my daughter Lucy for the lovely artwork I'm using here and my son Dylan who did the cool sound effect at the start of this track 😁 A lighthearted tune I wrote one day a few years ago when I was thinking in circles and feeling overwhelmed! I thought I'd record it again using audacity as it was one I always wanted to revisit and have some fun with, thanks for taking the time to listen, it means a lot to me 💜
