Gettin' Rough is basically the prototype for Heard You on the Radio. Then right before I moved to LA I made Radio, and put that riff in for the 2nd drop. Still might use that melody again one day...

Girls was yet another attempt at freeform, not sure where the girls part came from as I've never been good with the ladies. Maybe I was hoping this song would get my confidence up for the bar scene (it didn't lol)

I Want You is extremely old, and I made it for the girl I loved at the time. Still see her to this day, damn. Makes me realize how old I've gotten now and how much you can let slip past if you don't just go for it. Check this one out.

Play It Twice is a big room track that was pulling on influence from I don't even know what. Like honestly. But I love the vocal sampling in the intro and middle bit. The 'put your hands up' sample is from LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem.... I called it Play It Twice because I thought it was so good at the time that it was worth playing twice in a row lol....

Untitled is a song I did for no real reason other than to make a hardcore track in 3/4 timing. See all 4 to the floor dance music is named as such because it is 4 beats to the floor per measure, and I was just like god dammit I hate being constricted by time signature, so I threw the laws of EDM theory to the wind and this track came out of that. I'm such a rebel.

Monsters is a song that actually goes right alongside I Want You... same girl, different story though. I would tell the story here but I don't want to go to jail so if you ever meet me, feel free to ask me the "Monsters" story.

The Finish Line (Intro Mix) is the intro mix of a song that made it onto some random CD compilation (that I never got an artist copy of =[) with a bunch of average songs, imo my song was the best. But my ego would always tell me that lol, I guess this song really just held a special place in my heart at the time. So I made an intro mix to open sets with. Would still open with this track to this day.

And then there's New Heights (2012 Remix)..... New Heights is basically the reason you've heard of Cat Like Thief, thanks to Nu Foundation remixing the original plus Whisper. I've included both the originals in this package so you can listen to them. This remix of New Heights is a big room version, huge build ups, breakdowns, intro, sampling etc.... I really think it captures the original track but takes it to the level that I wanted in my sets at the time. Enjoy it.

More random CLT trivia:

- The singer for New Heights, When I See the Sunshine, As Rain Falls is Lauren Siegrist, a girl I went to high school with who had no desire to sing, but we decide to record on my Macbook anyway because I needed vocals for the tracks lol... she's quite good though!

- The guitar in You're My Heartbeat is sampled from Sum 41's 'Walking Disaster.'

- Xtasea, another big hardcore producer of the time, lived two streets down from me. We have hundreds of unreleased collabs that will never see the light of day for good reason lol.

- I am actually from England, Bournemouth specifically. Many people referred to me as an American hardcore producer. Thank you but no thank you.

- I think my remix of Here Beside Me by Dain-Ja is my best work as CLT, followed by my Drifting Away Remix and Heard You on the Radio. When none of these tracks took off, I basically stopped making hardcore because it was a waste of my time. Sorry to my fans for this.

- You can hear the vocal for 'I Want You' in the 2nd drop of the Elysium remix... ;]

- The name Cat Like Thief comes from the song of the same name by the band Box Car Racer.

- I was 17 when I played my first rave. They had to sneak me in the back because it was at an erotic art club, which I later found out was a prostitution ring in disguise. 

- I never actually wanted to be a hardcore DJ. I made the music and a local Detroit hardcore DJ Donald Whan found me on fucking MySpace Music lmao. 2 months later I was playing out my Owl City remixes in abandoned warehouses and strip clubs. My life has never been the same since.

- Best show I've ever played was in Ottawa... I actually grabbed the microphone and sung the vocals to 'Thinking of You, Wherever You Are' at the end live. Best feeling EVER.

- The sample in Gettin' Rough is 50 Cent. Yep.

- I actually made a hardcore song with Donald Whan a month ago... maybe I'll finish it ;]

Enjoy what is basically my entire back catalogue. Since 2013 I've worked with a plethora of insane producers, learned from professionals and become more of a music producer than I ever have been, but it's hardcore I have to thank because this is where it all started for me. 

Most importantly I met Alan Betancourt and Mikey O'Brien, two of my biggest inspirations to this day. I don't forget the words they've said or the songs they've made.

Cat Like Thief & AoS - Phoenix Down

Mikey 'Nu Foundation' O'Brien was arguably one of the best up & coming producers in the scene when he left us. The detail and thought put into his production was only matched by the energy and emotion he conveyed. 

It really seems like not all good things last, as Mikey was taken by illness on the 24th of March, 2011.

Mikey was unpredictable, hilarious, and wise. He always knew what to say, what to do, and had been through it all. These are the rare types of people that we should all strive to be in our daily lives. Compassionate and empathetic don't even begin to describe him. 

A year ago hardcore lost one of its best talents, but I also lost a friend that was irreplaceable. Never take anything for granted, and learn from everyone who crosses your path.

I hope you enjoy the remix and continue the legacy of Nu Foundation.
