Honesty Is The Best Policy

Been waiting for so long to complete it, but finally, after two years of hard work, endless all-nighters and a whole lot of life to live, a brand new Catalyst album/project has arrived!

Here's a mashup I made over the summer, which won't be available on streaming platforms due to obvious copyright issues.

I love MF DOOM, and "P.I.M.P" is my favourite 50 Cent song, so one day I had the idea of mixing 50's 2003 classic with the instrumental to DOOM's "Rapp Snitch Knishes", which he also released as "Coffin Nails" as part of the Special Herbs collection.

Grow Up

The final song off "GDIA", this is the most personal effort of the whole project in which I open up about the trauma of being disabled and all of the injustice and discrimination I experience, and ask anyone whose autistic or got ADHD, Aspergers, etc and they will tell you stories that are very similar to mine. But don't worry, if you're disabled like me you can still kill this shit on earth man, don't give up G!

Originally I was gonna try and get a guest feature to do the second verse, but it didn't happen, so instead I whipped which I consider personally to be a good ending to what is an unreal project. Seriously, I'm super proud of this album in its entirety and I'm only gonna better and better in the future.

Well... It's finally here after much teasing. Get your Stoney jackets on for the winter and get ready to REPRESENT with this brand new song of mine.

I started work on this track over the summer while I was working on GDIA, and I soon knew for a fact that this was gonna be my next song to work on after releasing that amazing album.

In these 3 mins & 42 secs, talk about life being disabled, hanging out with great friends, the square root of 144, girls, plus in the chorus I poke fun at people who take fashion brands a liiittle too seriously.

2023 is gonna be my year... and this is the first song from what will be a mad time ahead about how life can be difficult with a chorus everyone can relate to, alongside a verse I open up on my disability alongside other stuff.

I made the beat for this during second year of uni, but for a long time I didn't know what to do with the idea. But then, a few years later after being inspired by MIKE and Earl Sweatshirt, I was inspired to give this a proper go into making it a full song, and overall it's turned out really well.

It Is What It Is

Back it again with another new song, and this one is already a classic.

It's a fun, nostalgic sounding track where I rap over a brilliant beat I discovered from @tunedlink, a talented guy I follow on Twitter. I liked it so much, I bought the beat off Beatstars for $40 and wrote a whole song around it, and overall it's some of my best stuff yet. Plus the 140 BPM is a staple in British rap music, especially Grime.

I added a few things myself to the production side, like add some kicks, brighten up the EQ, a siren to build hype at the start, and some cymbals at the end of each chorus, and other than that I'm not 100% involved in the production side, which is an anomaly since I usually make the music for all my stuff. 

So yeah, a nice, breezy summer track. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Young Wren Boy 98

Well... it's finally summer outside and its all warm, which it means it's the perfect time for some good old UK Garage, courtesy of this banger - A new era is ahead, as evident with the new branding for my music.

Basically this breezy tune takes inspiration from one of my favourite songs from the 70's - "Oh Honey" by Delegation. But here, the slow downtempo classic is replayed, pitched up and sped up by 130BPM to create a nostalgic, but modern UKG tune that would've definitely topped the UK charts during the early 2000's.

I'm super proud of this one, I've heard it now hundreds of times through hours editing and mixing and I'm still not tired of it. I had to record all the vocals over a period of 4 days before a 10 day holiday in Canada with my dad, my big brother and his Canadian girlfriend, and then when I was at the hotel in Halifax, Nova Scotia I completed the mixing of this tune at like 7AM in the morning at the hotel bathroom haha.

Anyways, the song is now yours. Go out there and go give it some love. This might be the hottest record of the summer!! Like Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" in the summer of 2013, enjoy this one... the future is hot.

My Salvation

R.I.P ELEANOR WREN, 1928-2005 - MY IRISH NAN WHO WAS BORN IN DUBLIN, GREW UP IN DUNDALK AND MARRIED A WREN BOY IN THE 1950'S IN LONDON

Ahhhh man this track has taken ages to finally materialise but here we are - I've made songs before about how much I love St Albans, but never a song in which I embrace my quarter-Irish side of my family, more specifically my dad's side.

I wanted to make something that would make people proud with a hard AF beat, and if you know me I absolutely love Grime, so both ideas of a Grime/Ireland related track really gelled in hand in hand to create this unreal banger of a single. I've got bars about the country my late nan was from plus there's the usual Wren Boy one liners and cold truths, I'm sure she would've been proud for real. Especially because in the 70's she was often harassed in London because of her Irish accent during the height of The Troubles and whatnot.

What was the biggest inspiration for this track? Well, I remember 2 years ago hearing that the American singer Phoebe Bridgers was dating an Irish actor called Paul Mescal. When I heard the news I thought "Ohhhhh she's got a man from Ireland", and then I thought "hang on a sec... I'm part Irish myself" and then I somehow wrote two verses in a lil creative spurt about 18 months ago before finally turning the idea into a proper track after I made "My Salvation".

So yeah, it's been a long time coming this one. I originally wanted to release it on St Paddy's Day earlier this year but I couldn't work on "S.W.A.M.F.I" because my OP-1 was broken. I had to rent a different one for a few days to record the outro synth which in the end turned out so well. I hope you enjoy this song as much as I do, because rest assured it's another Wren Boy classic, bless.

She Wants A Man From Ireland

Took me ages to get right, but a new tune by King Sam has finally dropped! A real banger this, "Rich & Sexy" is a proper celebration all over with its catchy chorus & scintillating verse, while being probably the most London sounding record I've ever made. I now live in LDN but STA will always have my heart, and this kinda sound will be a hit for anyone who loves the scene from London, from Nine8, Louis Culture, Finn Foxell, Sainté etc it's a great time for music.

Even if you're a bit poor and tight on money in this current cost of living crisis, you can still bump this & have a great time to escape from all the BS happening in the world, your life whatever. I had fun making this & I'm proud of how the whole thing turned out. Plus in the end I used my new Teenage Engineering EP-133 to sample and time stretch an old record from the 80's to a thrilling effect.

Plus I wanna give a special shoutout to my friend Dylan from Dunno Curated, who did some extra small vocals to make this track better. He says "What's the craic?" with his Irish native tongue during one line in my verse before saying something else in the outro... listen for yourself! That was recorded in a proper studio in Soho and as a bonus, the whole vocal track is uploaded separately as a treat for anyone who still uses SoundCloud in 2024.

Rich & Sexy

On my new song "Rich & Sexy" I got my good friend Dylan to lay down some extra vocals because in it, I make a reference to my previous tune "She Wants A Man From Ireland" and I thought "Well... when I reference the tune I want my Irish friend Dyl to say what's the craic", since me putting on a mock Irish accent wouldn't of worked despite my dads mum being from Dublin!

I presented Dyl the idea and we sorted it out about two weeks ago in a proper recording studio in Soho - I had been to Dunno Studios before to look around and it's really impressive with some synths, like a Roland Juno 106 from the 80's and even some oddities like a Roland CR-78, a basic from machine from the 70's with wood panels on all sides.

Only two of Dylan's vocals made it on the final cut of "Rich & Sexy" but the whole track was so good, I thought "well... let's upload the whole thing separately" as a thank you to all my fans. You can hear us running through the track coming up with ideas & us laughing during the process of recording. 

This was my first time recording in a proper studio, but I'm already an expert in that ishh making music in bedrooms & hotels - Anyways follow Dylan and his Dunno Curated store because those guys are amazing always showing love for my music, and enjoy these outtakes from the recording session I did the other day in London.

So I made a small beat by sampling a funk song from the 80s, and was struggling to find a way of using it until I came across a brilliant TED Talk by the artist Kid Cudi, otherwise known as Scott Mescudi. There was one part in his talk that stuck out to me, and I used it in this track; ideal for driving late at night.
