The world is a stranger to the kind, but I won't pay it any mind
You gotta think twice before you're right.

We can end contentious patterns of the brainwaves,
Intrinsically we just gotta get up on the same page
'cause what's the good in this friction?
And this drama addiction?
Elevate us from this prison so we can see clearly to the distance

Why can't we leave it alone?

Strapped in the most petulant of ages
Struggling to maintain relevance
When that 15 minutes shrinks to 1.

Look beyond the scope of ignorance,

Never had posters on the wall,
That would deprive me four blank canvases to write on.
In mind's eye, not with markers or with crayons
In due time they're patterned densely with our plans.

I didn't wake up to be stupid
I wasn't wise enough to sleep.
I lost my head out in the open,
I found my way in tangled weeds.

Life can be strange when you're a stranger,
The only danger's caving in
When all of the world has lost its compass
It's hard to run away from our fears

But my recollection fails me

In this quest for betterment,
This just fight for what is right
through times of hard and soft, we'll feel the motion
Be at peace with our emotions

Like the universe drifts eternal song
Listen to its hum and sing along
Differences depart dangerous detainment

As fusion passes in its never-ending cycle
We're just sitting back and receiving the benefits of radiation
You can see it in their tans and you can see it in their faces,
All the telltale signs that lizards wear the fanciest of laces

It's hard to separate our feelings while the mainstream engine churns
Til we realize our inattention set the world to burning
We'll have to tell our children, and put it in the books to note
That foolish banter, not the bombs, would end another episode 

We can be so stupid (sometimes)

So much for invention and the humble intention
Of everybody who wanted to make the world a little better
Insurmountable resistance in these petty indecisions
By the ancient scrolls that tell them what is good instead of reason

A conscious understanding of a modern global era mends
But that's one step towards icing injuries sustained in retrospect
For fools who folly frivolously, venom dressed in velvet pleats
Can't spend a second for the rest, obsessing over all their needs

So tragic, go figure, left back to relax with the trigger
No exaggeration, such fascination
Forego patience, they close the door in my face
This place has changed, plastic arrangements
Static formations, the classic's been wasted
A state of decay, I imagine how space is daily
Hopefully somebody here can save me.

raise your head above the mess we left for
Future generations and the people
Run your rake across the superficial steeple
And if you find anything worth saving, just
Haul it down to the masterminds of the nation
And hold your questions to yourself, there's no point in debating
Now empty out your bags and get back to your station

Low rations, gettin thinner.
If I was a pastor, I'd become a sinner
I've had it with this dinner in plastic,
styrofoam madness, the Finer Home magazines I trashed them
Your face on the back, this place is a has-been
Hasn't been shit for years, it's visibly clear, but I'm stuck here
But no fear, my luck has shifted, someone in the distance has listened.

A Look into the Future - Polystyrene

Somewhere in the distance, I can't see it but I listen
To this beautiful, entrancing dance of sounds.
And through these Eyes of Oak as blind as trees,
I seek to set my mind at ease, instead I find I'm overwhelmed.

By noises growing louder, siphoning my power
Away from all the places that need it the most in this hour.

While we seek to heal the people, evil hides the other evil
Two steps forward, faceplant on the ground.
Placed our faith in something different,
Hoped to see a changed and watched it 
Set ablaze to all the things around.

Though in retrospect it looked so foolish,
Obvious by the time they grew it,
Easier to sit there and pretend.

And through decisions bad and worse,
Almost like it was rehearsed,
A nation now without a precedent.

Somewhere in the distance I can't see it but I listen
To this beautiful entrancing dance of sounds.
The day when finally all this mess will settle down and we can rest,
And hear it at its best as it resounds.
