Crashing in on the current wave of the Riot Grrrl resurgence that has defied record collections of late, Cat Bear Tree embrace the early ‘90s cult movement but twist it with their own unique style. Pulling influence from the likes of Sleater-Kinney, Bikini Kill, Electrelane and Warpaint – Cat Bear Tree veer between DIY punk and indie pop.

Who Are You?

CATBEAR, consisting of best pals Zoe and Sarah, are based between London and Brighton. Their unique popwave style combines 80s synth-poptimism, 90s riot grrrl spirit, 00s danceable post-punk revival, and the experimental and queer liberation of the 10s. Their lyrics cover LGBTQ+ life, millennial disillusionment, insomnia, unrequited love, and self-indulgent longing, with an “it’ll be ok in the end” undertone. Initially conceived as a home studio project following the dissolution of their previous band, their fiercely DIY spirit led them to self-produce and self-release their music, garnering over 2 million Spotify streams.
