Chopped up piano chord progressions, lush vocal stabs and swinging drums ran through multiple emulators and finally through the classic lofi gear, the sp404 and some foley for some extra grittyness.

"This track felt quite nostalgic when creating it and it was around the time i found myself browsing old photos from out trip to Italy. It's also a deceptively uplifting track, a vibe i think we could all need right now. This uplifting theme is pushed further by the vocal sample "Alright, Yeah" - another thing we could possibly do with hearing at the minute, Things will be alright, yeah"

Ode To Ricci

Emerging from a rasping sweep and stuttered break Runnin’ oozes Lo-Fi Jazz as forward thinking instrumentation meets the classic. Keys collide with synth pads and etheric vocal shots meet with robust horn sweeps as we transition from phrase to phrase. All these elements layered with a generous amount dusty and authentic Lo-Fi noise and texture that helps further glue the track together.

Catch92 - Runnin'

Hanging is the perfect soundtrack for hanging around, relaxing and any chilled activity. Catch92 implements one of his favourite instruments in this track, the Hang Drum. Providing a sound that resonates through the track and effortlessly stands out when needed and also melts into the dominant bass line with perfect timing. The bass and Hang drum are accompanied by a swinging and crisp break that hold the groove steady and drives the track forward. All overlaid with that soulful Lo-Fi warmth!

Hanging

Rolling piano licks and off beat flutes mark the new catch92 lofi banger as highly enjoyable. With static grooves, but swing percussion this beat has a very jazzy feel and high head nodding qualities. 

"One of the more choppy beats I've made in a while. All the elements seemed to gel together quite well as I was creating this beat. I finished it just after a trip to Sunderland with my girlfriend, which is where the photo for the artwork came from, and the title Gaze. Gazing across the beach to the lighthouse and walks by the sea front with sea view meals. This track embodied the joy of our time away and hopefully it can brighten your day too!"

Gaze

Crisp and crackling drums play off a warm saturated bass and both intertwine with the main focus of the track; luscious guitar riffs that ring out across the track and keep the beat moving. The addition of piano keys in the later sections accentuates the established melodies and grooves.

Night Flight

A swinging lofi hip hop joint that bounces from kick to snare and instantly induces head nodding. This is prime Catch92 with the style and flare we have come to recognise and love from his music. Crisp drums, deep bass, chopped melodies and all round feel good vibes leave us wanting more and reaching for the repeat button. Suggestion; Jazz Vibes, Mellow Beats, lofi hiphop and lofi beats.

Dwell

Catch92 brings his unique style of lofi beats with this new track Through It. Deep bass tones pulse through the low end, punctuated by kicks as they swing from crisp rim shots and scattered percussive elements. Keys flutter licks of melodies as the lead is chopped and stuttered yet flows effortlessly through the track. Keys are accompanied by a short guitar riff in the later section to bring the track to its vibrant and natural climax.

Through It

Catch92 takes it back to basics and back to his Hip Hop roots with this bumping boom bap inspired and soulful beat. Chopped vocal cuts ring out through the track accompanied by a stuttered guitar lead that acts in a call and response to the vocals. Rolling drum break push the track forward as a bouncing bass line adds depth and weight to the low end, punctuated with a deep kick drum and a crisp snare. Subtle stutters and filter sweeps transition from section to section and complete this track.

Talk For Love

Manchester-based producer and visual artist - catch92 provides another insight to his forthcoming album ‘Patchwork’ in the shape of the classic soul-tinged sample flipping track ‘Anor’.

Coming via Asta Hiroki's Folded Music imprint the album is a melting pot of hip hop beats, jazzy bumps, and downtempo electronica on his first full-length for the label -with ‘Anor’ a standout from the bunch.

When creating, catch92 uses any and every production method at his disposal, with the overarching ethos of being entirely open to exploring any musical avenue and not worrying about maintaining a specific sound, instrument, or narrative throughout the collection.

Starting life as a handful of sample chops and a break thrown together he arranged a basic idea to perform at the regular Workinonit hip hop event. After road testing it to a great reaction, the idea captured his imagination as to what it could become and he reworked the project to its current state - a high-quality soulful beat a la J Dilla’s ‘Donuts’, or the widespan creations of Madlib, and Knxwledge.

Despite the bittersweet nature of the music there is still room for a smile, with the title is a tongue-in-cheek reference to the vocal sample which sounds to say “I Know” through a Yorkshire accent - which the producer is fond of.

Having steadily gained a reputation as one of the most interesting names working with leftfield hip hop styles catch92 has received praise and regular spins on BBC 6 Music, FIP, Couleur 3, RadioEins, and across the Radio Campus network, in addition to some big placements on key Spotify hip hop editorial playlists.
