This week's songwriting assignment was to start with a colour and free-associate, so it got me thinking about drinking red wine with a good friend. St Luke's is a real place (although the photo I've used is unrelated) – it's in Glasgow and I was aiming for a nostalgic Glaswegian sound to match, so there's a bit of a Blue Nile vibe to this one.

Lyrics:

We talked three hours sitting on St Luke’s steps
With wine the colour of the dye in our hair
in plastic glasses from a cheap picnic set
I cried when i left
