Cathexes formed in Salt Lake City, Utah over an experiment in having a "good-time", combined with instruments... Scott Sorensen and James Cunningham began making music together in 2006. In 2008, they self-released their first full-length album, CATHEXaurus wrEckS, which was followed up with a northwestern US tour. They promptly relocated from SLC to NYC, where they continue to compose, record, and perform to this day.
