The survivors land on the inhospitable world of Shadow IV hidden in the outer reaches. Deep fissures in the crust jet hydrogen cyanide and sand storms sweep across the region. The intrepid felid leaves to search for supplies and fuel. No one has noticed the mender has fallen to madness after his mind was injured witnessing the home-world battles. He begins to experiment with the power cores from the sky vessel and realizes he can make the monsters in his mind real.
