There it was again. That catch, like the world itself had hit a snag, a dropped frame in a frameless realm. The man looked around, long hair floating along as his head turned left and right. No one else had seemed to notice. Was it just him? Was he going crazy? Was his brain failing him? The first few times, he had dismissed it as his distractible nature, but the snag’s increasing frequency was beginning to concern him. With no answer to be found, the man reluctantly shrugged off what he had seen, adjusting his jacket briefly before continuing on his way home.

Yet again, the catch came on completely unexpected. He had been chopping vegetables for dinner, and the knife in his hand had frozen in midair as though it had encountered something completely solid, pausing for an agonizingly long second before continuing on its downward path. It almost cost him his finger this time. The doctors could find nothing wrong with him, and in all other respects his life was perfectly normal and otherwise unremarkable. So why this, this maddening hitch that interrupted it all? Frustrated once more, the man pulled his coat from its hanger and reached for the cigarettes in its pocket. Perhaps, he thought, a relaxing walk would sort this all out.

Emerging from his apartment, the man walked towards one of his favourite spots in the city, the great bridge that spanned the river at its center. Evening was beginning to fall, and the sky and river alike shone with the last rays of the day’s setting sun. The hitches did not come, and the man enjoyed his peaceful view. Relaxed, he decided to return home. He took a single step forwards, and there it was. This time he felt it coming, the hitch, the snag, the catch. This time, he thought, he would catch it. Opening his mind to the hitch’s coming, he grasped mentally for it at the exact moment of it’s arrival. Now, he would finally understand. He would finally have the truth. The man clutched at the hitch tightly in his mind, and it did not pass as the others had. Instead, amidst the coming dusk and fading daylight, the man saw the facade of this very world shatter.

LIVEON makes his EATBRAIN debut with STUTTER, his first full EP on the label following his first appearance on the Divergence 2 compilation in 2019. Bringing with him a set of basslines with sonic capabilities that live up to the EP’s name including tracks with CHRIS.SU & DATI, LIVEON leads the EATBRAIN horde into a new sonic reality with the 5 track STUTTER EP.
