This Friday night the notorious DJ outfit, Scratch Perverts, will head up our third room for something of an uber set as they prepare to take over the room for the whole six hours. Considering the long history we share with Tony Vegas and Prime Cuts, an extended show from the duo has most certainly been a long time coming and it's fully certified to deliver a very, very special experience. Like we said back in July, when the duo shared their ultimate Detroit influenced picks with us, Scratch Perverts are a name synonymous with fresh cuts and quality music; their slick fix of different genres presented in their own veritable style has long been the key ingredient in a solid music formula that's already helped present their stringent ability on the decks and their deep dedication to the craft as a whole to the world.

With the aforementioned extended show on the horizon, Tony Vegas and Primecuts have delivered not one but two exclusive mixes. This, the second mix, ups the ante and the tempo from the first uniting jungle and footwork jams together to give you a little hint at how some of the hours might just play out when the duo take over Room Three for the entire night this Friday.

Yes. This one’s all about the breaks.

We’re going back, way back to the foundation, with a selection of original soul and funk classics. Time for me to pay homage to some of the original artists, notably the drummers, that gave us the backbone of hardcore, jungle & DnB.

Put this one together fairly quickly, choppy mixing, no messing about, just wanted to let the tracks speak for themselves. They’re all listed below and I'll probably throw in a few examples of break usage for anyone who's fussed.  Most of these are pretty well-known but I’ve thrown in a few lesser-sampled ones. This is a mix I’ve wanted to do for ages; I’m only scratching the surface, could have kept hunting these tracks down forever, but you gotta draw the line somewhere! Less than a day after finishing the mix I discover Lucille Brown & Billy Clark’s ‘Both Eyes Open’... a personal favourite. Fuck it, it's going on the next mix.

Massive shout to the guys at Rolldabeats forum (especially Beat-Findation who tracked down ‘Non-stop Home’ for me, props) - many of these sources I wouldn’t have discovered without your efforts. Big up. And an honourable mention for WhoSampled.
