CB90 Dance Recordings welcome Glasgow duo, Pentland Park. Known for the eclectic music taste as heard on their monthly Radio Buena Vida show, they deliver a proper dance floor chugger that caught our attention on first listen. 'Communication' drives and pulses from the low end up with tripped-out attention to detail on the high end.

Label Boss Kieran Apter ramps up the tempo on the remix and takes the track into a new gear full of peak-time energy.

Australian producer Kate Stein brings her mesmerizing sounds to TAU with the Death Stocked EP, her debut with us. Currently based between New York City and Los Angeles, Kate merges a variety of styles to produce captivating cuts that embody the ethos of dance floor liberation and self-expression. A confident performer who has appeared at House of Yes, Mayan Warrior and Cityfox Experience at Brooklyn Mirage, among many other notorious spots, Kate is also carving out her own lane with her productions. On Death Stocked we get two original cuts, with a bumper selection of reworks...

The EP kicks off with scintillating energy, as ‘Dome Brain’ lures us into Kate’s sonic web. Pulsating disco noir rhythms combine with pumping beats and a cacophony of rousing effects and triggers, to create a stirring atmosphere. Twisted acid disco for the dance floor diehards.

Next up, Curses steps in with two remixes. The first, ‘Metallic Dub’, ramps up the potency of the beats in conjunction with a raucous low end. A sweet riff takes centre stage as the track progresses, Curses shrouding the original with his dark wave aesthetic. This is followed by the ‘Spectre In the Dance Remix’, where he opts for a more sombre interpretation.

The title cut ‘Death Stocked’ works off an undulating low end, throbbing and juddering, while crisp claps and shakers act as a catalyst for involuntary body move- ment. Kate creates an immersive atmosphere juxtaposing a bright melody with the morose bassline. As the track reaches its conclusion more elements are added to increase its uplifting appeal, taking you the highest heights.

Zombies In Miami roll out the first rework, taking it into more menacing territory. An insistent riff is complemented by layers of melancholy synth and mournful melody, amplifying the track’s emotive impact.

Finally, Leonor closes out the release with his spinetingling rework. Taking the uplifting melody from the original, he takes us on an expedition to a higher vibrational field, where good vibes and positive energy are ubiquitous.

IT'S JUST MUZIK BEST OF Tracks & Albums 2022 [25 DEC 2022]

Yoyodisco is the dance project by Mike Giuliani, musician/producer/DJ/performer.

Based in Bologna (ITA), Mike is one of the founding members of Locomotiv Club one of the most prestigious venue in the country. In the late '90s Giuliani was part of the pop sensation Lùnapop as guitarist. Since then he has been involved and has created several projects, from pop to garage rock to electro dance. His latest musical adventure is Yoyodisco, combining all of his influences with the punk/DIY attitude, experimenting with dance music and with the best of contemporary pop.

The first release from Yoyodisco was the EP "Yoyo's Edit" (May 3, 2020) for the Italo Italians label, featuring the tracks "Forza Campione" and "The Party".

The second one was "Angel Eyes", self released under the homonimous label Yoyodisco. The song is an exciting cover of Roxy Music and marks the beginning of the collab with Katarina Poklepovic and Michele Quadri of So Beast. After a rendez-vous backstage at Locomotiv the three began working together on the second EP "Futuro Fatale"; Mike composing all the beats and arrangements, Katarina and Michele adding their touch with a unique mix of vocal loops and noise guitars. All the lyrics were written by Katarina.

Thanks to his impressive knowledge of house music and carefully curated DJ sets, Kieran Apter has risen through Edinburgh’s underground to become one of Scotland’s most exciting talents. Since founding esteemed club night, Tweak_, in 2015, where he warmed up for Mano Le Tough, Seth Troxler, Moodymann, San Proper, Fort Romeau, Dorisburg and more, he has since elevated his profile to play across landmark European venues such as Wire Club Leeds, Sisyphos Berlin and Night Tales in London. 

Raised in a musical household, with his father playing in various bands, Kieran’s early musical explorations ranged from rock to samba, and he developed a love for hip hop in his early teenage years. From a young age, Kieran would make the journey from his rural hometown of West Calder to Edinburgh, indulging himself in all the city had to offer, heading to raves and falling in love with dance music while still in school. After moving to the city when he was 18, he soon became a regular face on Edinburgh’s underground scene. 

It's this exposure to music that has given Kieran’s productions the sound that DJ Mag recently described as “warm, cosmic and deeply emotional”. He’s come a long way from his early ‘All I Want’ EP, that found its way into the sets of Dixon, Rampa, &ME and Andhim, and aired by both Pete Tong and B.Traits on their BBC Radio 1 shows. These days, Kieran’s output continues to grow, with high-profile gigs and an acclaimed Boiler Room for FLY Club at Cabaret Voltaire, as well as starting an independent record label showcasing his work and the work of various friends and artists who share the same love for quality underground dance music. His label, CB90 Dance Recordings, is a passion-driven project, inspired by youth culture and a deep-rooted heritage of dance music in Scotland. So far, releases include the likes of Man Power, Brain Dancing, Anthony Georges Patrice, as well as his own productions, which touch on house, techno and acid. 

Kieran’s ability to seamlessly flit between genres while offering profound and thoughtful components in each track make his records as suited to the dancefloor as solo listening. Consistently receiving DJ support from artists such as &ME, Butch, Theo Kottis, Konstantin Sibbold, Jennifer Cardini and Sean Johnston have meant his records soundtrack dancefloors at clubs like Panorama Bar, DC-10, and Subclub. 

In the last 18 months, Kieran’s music has gone on to receive multiple plays on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Scotland, becoming a regular feature and gaining support from the BBC Introducing programme. He holds residencies at both Crèche in London, run by Alexis Raphael, and Pleasure at Cabaret Voltaire alongside Theo Kottis, Alien Communications, IDA and more. He also opened the Boiler Room Stage at last year’s FLY OPEN AIR festival. 

With a busy release schedule taking us up to 2024, Kieran has set himself up well for an exciting future.
