Quick a cappella version of a Barbara Streisand classic from the 70s for this month's Blogpost No2 Feb 2023: Evergreen ... taken from one of the many versions of A Star Is Born. I was 14 when this came out and LOVED the movie and Babs in particular; she's  such an effortless singer. This month's special Blogpost song is a demo of a song inspired by the Greek tragedy of Orpheus. I suppose you could say it was the tentative beginning of my exploration into putting folklore into song. It's not the best recording ... it was a while ago but I really appreciated Steve Lima's ability to translate my very basic (dodgy!) guitar-only-version into a more enhanced and favourable arrangement. He's a very patient man! There was never a place for this or several other songs I wrote at that time but they still have a place in my heart. Given I'm not prolific (to say the least!) ... every song has a place in my creative heart regardless of their intrinsic value outside of that hallowed space. I share with you knowing you are all incredibly generous when it comes to allowing space for creative endeavours 😝 x hope you find it at least interesting.

This month's special song for the Blogpost (August 2023) is one of the first demos I created for "No One Knows His Name" in 2015. It grew up from these humble beginnings and became a fully fledged Daphne's Flight recording on "Knows Time, Knows Change" released in 2017. The form of the song and some of the lyrics changed after this but you can hear the bones of the song ... and me playing around with harmonies.

For Blogpost No 10 October 2023: Here's another demo of a song I co-wrote with Rob Laufer (awesome musician, singer-songwriter, producer) who lives in LA. I had the wonderful privilege to work with him on a number of Wild Honey Orchestra charity shows in L.A. Through that fabulous connection we got together and wrote a handful of songs ... 2015? Anyway we never found a way to release them into the world. It was such a lovely experience. He's the coolest dude! I miss you Rob ... maybe in the strange future we're moving towards we'll figure something out 🤷‍♀️ Hope you enjoy our efforts ❤️🙏❤️

My good friends Tom Harriman and Pamela Phillips Oland wrote the music for The Soldier Of Orange which has been a huge hit in Holland since 2010. When plans to bring the show to London began in 2016 Tom asked me to sing the demo vocals for Queen Wilhelmina. I was honoured! Bob and I saw the show in 2019 in its original Dutch setting and were blown away. It's a fabulous production. Hopefully someday soon the London show will be up and running. I'll go see it again for sure! I love this dramatic soulful ballad.
