'Oh man, I’ve got good news all around! First of all, even if there wasn’t anything to celebrate, this mix from Heathered Pearls is absolutely superb! Almost two hours in length it navigates many favorite genres and artists represented by the Michigan based label, Ghostly International. Just look at this amazing tracklist! In 2009, Ghostly celebrated its 10 year anniversary as a label, with many shows across the globe. This year, the label is commemorating a decade of performances at Decibel Festival. The 10th Ghostly showcase at Decibel will feature live performances from Dauwd, Beacon, Lusine and Shigeto (Friday, September 27th at the Crocodile) and you know that I’ll be there all night!

Meanwhile, Jakub Alexander (that’s Heathered Pearls), a curator of the ISO50 blog and founder of Moodgadget Records, has just released a digital remix album, titled Loyal Reworks, featuring many great artists, including Sun Glitters, loscil, Markus Guentner and Lawrence. This week's edition of Soulection Radio was really essential. We had a pioneer and important individual who is responsible for many great things going on in our music culture today. He goes by Daddy Kev which most of you may already be familiar with. He founded the legendary weekly event Low End Theory  and co-founded Alpha Pup Records/Distribution. Kev dropped a 40 minute set that made us feel like we we're in the time warp in Stanley Kubrick's space hub from '2001: A Space Odyssey'. 

Kev made sure to sprinkle all the classics as well as some forthcoming unreleased material from who knows who. Things got really interesting when Kev and Joe jumped in to the interview portion  during the 2nd hour to discuss everything from experiences at Low End Theory, mastering (sound engineering education), the current state of today's music culture, favorite artists to work with, and even a Low End Theory festival that is coming this year. Definitely an educational experience! Joe Kay also showcased some forthcoming material that is too exclusive to be identified (track ID'd ~ Unknown - Untitled) but stay tuned and we will be announcing some of these next artists/releases. We'll catch you next Saturday at our new time.

Here's my description on Clash from fall 2012 :
This mix is a soundtrack to your Indian summer, if you’re having one right now, or a mix for those people that are in need of a lil’ sunshine. It’s a very summery/sunny mix to bring you out of your fall funk. Lots of juke/footwork and a lil’ jungle thrown in for good measure. There’s some jokes in there too. I went for the more soulful style of footwork instead of the colder minimal tunes meant more for the dancefloor. I played this exact set at the XLR8R boat party at Dimensions festival in Croatia this summer.
