For the next Bedrock release, the label turns to one of the most influential figures in dance music over the last 20 years, Darren Emerson. Underworld’s classic 1993 “Dubnobasswithmyheadman” album, “Born Slippy” on the Trainspotting movie soundtrack, unforgettable remixes for The Chemical Brothers and Björk, “Scorchio” with Sasha – these are just a few examples of key creations that have captured so many people’s imaginations.

For twenty years Darren Emerson has blazed an unrivalled trail across the electronic scene, navigating a highly successful career as a DJ, producer, remixer and label owner (Underwater and Detone). Now, fresh from a brilliant remix of Paul Rutherford’s Acid House classic “Get Real”, he makes his debut on Bedrock.

“Hot Dog” is a big-room beast that evolves from ethereal pads, heavy drums, clever percussion and crazy noises, to create a hypnotic groove that builds and develops with subtle skill until brimful with tension and bursting with energy. Darren Emerson never fails to impress.

Berlin based Florian Meindl is a multi-talented talented DJ, producer, sound designer, writer and label boss (Flash Recordings), whose productions have graced labels such as Trapez, Stil vor Talent, Herzblut and Kling Klong. Here he strips things back, brings the beats to the fore, turns up the funk factor and creates an equally hypnotic and enthralling and yet distinctly different version of “Hot Dog”.

Once again, Bedrock continues to capture the essence of why electronic dance music is such an exciting prospect right now, picking up praise and support from some of the world’s most savvy and innovative forward-thinking DJs.

For their prelude, Mindless digs deep into the ear canal and creates a nearly threatening vibe with synths weighing heavy like the night.With a humming, pushing groove, the title track Love Takes Hostages then sets in with the psychedelic effect of drifted vocals and particles of tones. On The Beauty and The Beast, they apply themselves to their interpretation of the classic tale. The melancholic piano sets a distinct course. Directly to the point, the beats juxtapose the thick mist of playful sounds. Lastly, Worldwide, the fourth track on this EP conjures its high in a coppice of wafting rhythms and noises.

Highly regarded among his peers, the plucky Argentinian has continued to gather pace with stand out tracks for Tale & Tone, onedotsixtwo, and Visceral to name a few. As well as DJ sets across Argentina and a stellar performance for Sudbeat recently at Stereo, Montreal.   

Opening with ‘Vulgare’ John establishes his trademark style early with rolling shakers and muted sonics filtering up over the first section, and with the pace increasing tensions grow. The midsection renders out those threads of melody and the full fleshed out track is powerful and emotive.   Next up, ‘One Dollar’ thunders from the speakers from the off. Deep and dubby, the motifs linger adding tension throughout. A strong mid-set vibe for those big event crowds. Finally, ‘Pink Power’ rounds out the collection with subtle tribal feels. Roger Martinez's Higher States rounds out the summer season by welcoming EANP to the label for their debut EP. Having worked together since 2014, it wasn't until 2018 that Buenos Aires residents Ezequiel Anile and Nicolas Petracca decided to coin the EANP alias for their collaborative efforts. Now firmly established, the moniker has become synonymous with quality club-effective progressive house, complete with a techy flair. Continued support from genre tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, along with key releases for Balance Music, Mango Alley, Meanwhile, Or Two Strangers and Replug have made the Argentinean duo a much in-demand act. Currently operating at their most prolific and creative to date, the beloved duo now add Higher States to their resume with a three-track showcase 'Hypersonic'.

Already in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo, it is ‘Hypersonic’ which leads the release off. Complete with many of the duo’s beloved production hallmarks, it’s a stripped down slow-burning groove which sets the pace for intriguing vocal samples, hopeful pads and uniquely polished percussion to create a timeless storyboard. Acid stabs steal the air, adding dynamic swing to the groove, while an array of orbiting effects perfectly prelude a heartfelt break, one where wispy sonics and decayed vocals build anticipation for a stomped-out finale, one that is sure to resonate across dancefloors for the remainder of the summer season. 

Selection two ‘Hypnotica’ continues the duo’s dancefloor minded approach and complements its predecessor perfectly. With a tough percussive framework. EANP’s craftsmanship reveals itself across the expansive journey, one where techno-inspired beats and low-slung bass lines get peppered with skittering rhythms, glitched-out electronics and carefully placed atmospheric refrains. 

The duo’s distinct aesthetic continues on the third and final selection ‘No Input’. Perhaps the most direct composition on the EP, its eight-minute running time quickly sets you adrift in a techno-inspired wasteland of retro-sonics and granular textures. Both intimate and wide-ranging, it's a trance-inducing break which engulfs your attention whole, creating a ceremonial backdrop for misty glitches and fog-like swells to paint a scenic storyboard onwards to a rejuvenating finale.

Pete Oak, who can't stop making new tracks and can't help but making the dance floor shake, does not change the rule with his new remix for Ariose. The rythmic gives the tone followed by tortured synths, a fat bassline, all this surrounded with an atmosphere more house than usual. This is beautiful and confirms us Pete is moving to the next level. We hope nothing will stop him !! It will be released on Aftertech on 8th December and it's found to make some noise ! I give you my digger's word !!

Due to the great feedback we decided to put them on a 12-inch accompanying the Âme Live CD. Karl Hyde and James Lavelle on one 12-inch should be something for a lad's paradise and even 'Enoi' sounds brighter than before.

A standout track of Above & Beyond’s recent warm up set at ABGT350, with its foreboding spoken word verses and incomparably dark builds, ‘Brainwasher’ is set to be a DJ staple this winter.
