The Drunken Fiddler

Born and raised in Northampton, a town in the Midlands UK renowned for shoe making, CDR drew inspiration from a blend of the industrial and archetypal English country surrounding him to produce his musical offerings.

Choosing the drums as his primary instrument at a very young age meant he developed a deep understanding of rhythm and a life long obsession with perfecting his playing and performance capabilities. This has translated into the music he creates using various programs and techniques to generate the distinctive sounding tracks. 

CDR likes to give listeners and auditory experience rather than a traditionally formatted song by using elements sparingly to craft a spacious, minimal sound in a wide stereo spectrum. He achieves this by featuring hidden found sounds that run subliminally throughout the track such as ambiances of the countryside, cities, bus journeys, bird song and sampled glitch, vinyl, tape hiss and even a ZX spectrum loading. 

Finding himself drawn to the artwork on his dad’s record collection resulted in early exposure to the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton and Pink Floyd, broadening his musical dialect and contributing to his ability to encompass the fundamentals of many different genres in his playing and production of music. Later CDR would find his artistic stimulation from UK Garage; Drum n Bass and many other different styles. 


Unceasingly active on the live scene CDR often performs with a variety of bands and artists around the UK. At all other times he can be found locked in his home studio producing, recording and creating music either collaboratively with other artists or churning out his own fresh produce. Being a versatile producer he is always up for experimentation along with the revival of more traditional recording, mixing and mastering techniques.  

CDR’s current project is the development of a live show combining  live electronic creation and sequencing along with live instrumentation and vocals accompanied by visuals and lighting.
