In 2007 Solarstone and Alucard teamed up for the beautiful track “Late Summer Fields”, a track with vocals from Rich a.k.a. Solarstone himself. I really loved the original version, so when Rich asked me 2 years later if I wanted to remix this one, it was not hard to say “yes”.

production notes:
This started out with a narrative I wrote for the track about a lone figure that awoke without memory in a cave that appeared to be sentient, and inhabited ravers entranced by strange relics. The usual psychedelic trope stuff. I recorded the vocals myself, and used them to inform the initial arrangement of the track. It became evident that the story would result in a evolving and winding musical expedition. However, my voice really didn't suit it. So I used elevenlabs to generate a new AI version of the vocals - that are used here. Later I stripped most of the vocals out, however the story they informed is now the song.

Each track I make offers new challenges.. here I really wanted to shift genres and sounds a lot. It sounds quite basic, but there's a lot going on here from a bassline that absolutely isn't traditional psytrance (although the base pattern is inspired by "Robotoised" by Quirk), to shifting from saw bass, to square wave, to switching the whole thing up in to a Brazil-inspired shponglised breakdown - considering I had no knowledge of this musical style, let alone how to produce it. However the real challenge was finishing this track. The arrangement has been 'complete' for months now with me tweaking and trying to polish it up enough to release it. 

I also decided to make this a multi-part song. Again, inspired by Shpongle albums where tracks eb and flow between each other. Part 2 of this isn't included here, but I hope I can make it become a full mixed album. Something for later.

Trance lovers, rejoice. Paul van Dyk is gearing up to release a 14-track trance masterpiece, 'Music Rescues Me' - his ninth official studio album.

Helping to establish the foundation of trance in the early '90s and supplying the scene with dancefloor anthems through his Vandit label, Paul van Dyk has played an integral role in guiding the scene and developing the booming dance music industry with each passing year.

"This new album is not about music bringing one person back from the brink," van Dyk explains in a press release. "Its theme reaches beyond that. This is about music’s ability to open us up, to stimulate mental imagery, to unlock or bring back memories. It’s about its often hard-to-fathom capacity to support us, to get us through our tougher or more challenging times,
