The Seamless Path

A pioneer of modern electronic music, Alfonso Muchacho sets the new standard for both technical ability and dance floor control. Residing in London, UK, he has become one of the most sought after DJs in Europe playing at nightclubs and festivals across the continent. His productions fill the sets of some of the biggest names in the scene and he is as in demand in the studio as he is on the dance floor. São Paulo’s Gui Milani has graciously created this exclusive guest mix, just for us, and for your listening pleasure!

Gui is well known in Brazil’s thriving progressive house scene, and, indeed, around the world. A professional DJ since 1998, he has played in some of the biggest clubs in Brazil, as well as internationally (such as Amsterdam Dance Event 2016). 

Milani has played alongside innumerable legendary progressive artists - such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, Cid Inc and Darin Epsilon - and he currently organizes Brazil’s progressive house UniK ID parties. Gui Milani is very active with guest mixes, in addition to hosting his regular radio show, Hyptonic Sessions, on Saturo Sounds (UK) - we listen to it religiously.

At the age of 18, he was enlisted to National Service, where as a medic, he had to deal with death every day. Soldiers brought from Lebanon were dying right in front of his eyes. Continuous suicide attacks and living on a time bomb made Moshic understand, what the most important thing in life is; to seize the day. Every day, every week, every month masterpieces like 10@ZE or the remix of Memnons Locutus were produced. Year after the Kiss 100 broadcast his Distorted Patterns compilation was unearthed. Progressive fans went down to their knees and Moshic was asked to do the Essential Mix that was broadcasted in February of that year. Deersky’s Soundteller Records adds another impressive newcomer to their roster with Ric Niels making his label debut. The Argentinean artist first appeared on the progressive music scene just a month ago with an EP for Clinique Recordings. A contribution to 3rd Avenue’s ‘We Are The Future’ collection followed shortly thereafter, nicely setting the stage for his Soundteller debut entitled ‘California’.

Spread across two tracks it’s the deep, driving vibes of ‘Cove’ which get the the EP underway. It’s tough foundation is made up of meaty kicks and a mountainous groove, while airy atmospherics, tranquil arps and effervescent percussion heighten the senses above. Haunting sweeps and ghostly wails segue nicely into a short break, where the arp intensifies before trailing off into a glowing finale.

The release concludes with ‘Cliffs’ which furthers the driving, hypnotic mood of the EP. Anchored by a warm and sightly fuller groove, it’s lively arps and buzzing effects resonate beautifully against a backdrop of emotive chord changes and radiant pads. A well constructed bed of percussion adds drive as the narrative shifts further into emotive territory across the break, building nicely to a tasteful crescendo, perfectly setting up a stripped back drop and pulsating finale. It rounds out a fresh EP from Ric Niels, who makes a solid Soundteller debut, while continuing to stake his claim as a rising talent in the progressive underground. Highly recommended.

Coming together to bring you the best expressive and diverse sets, Warren Barun and Manuel Borg; better known by their stage names Cedren & Manu-l, deliver a range of sounds that consist of  deep tech, progressive and everything in between. 

They are a duo known for their pulsing warm-up sets as well as their darker, heavy grooves constantly lifting dance-floors higher and higher and it is this shared enthusiasm for the energy found in the music that brought the two together after years working closely in the same environment.

Hard work and strong initial exposure at a variety of local festivals and venues is what gained Cedren & Manu-L good reputation and they have only grown bigger and stronger since; having started the Genesis events in Malta, hosting Dale Middleton, Mariano Mellino, Lonya, Graziano Raffa, Marcelo Vasami, Sonic Union, Petar Dundov, Khen, Nick Devon, Soul Button, Cid Inc, Dmitry Molosh, Hernan Cattaneo & Nick Warren.
