This single announces the release of Céline Dessberg's upcoming EP: Hödöö (12/13/2024). Produced by Max Shrager (The Shacks, 54 Ultra), Hödöö is a sonic and emotional journey that pays tribute to the Mongolian countryside, her homeland. The artist explores themes of travel, self-discovery, and otherness. Céline‘s melancholic and poetic voice, enhanced by her unique playing of the Yatga (traditional Mongolian harp), blends with analog productions tinged with soul, creating an EP with an intimate yet generous atmosphere. 

'de moi à moi je crois que j’explose' is written as a letter to Thích Nhất Hạnh, the Vietnamese Buddhist monk and peace activist. In this song, Céline Dessberg describes the exact moment when anger takes hold of us and attempts to resist it by following the teachings of Buddha she learned as a child. In doing so, she frees herself from all forms of fear and animosity, summoning love, compassion, and joy through meditation and self-work.

Céline Dessberg is a singer, songwriter, and harpist of mixed French and Mongolian heritage. She grew up between two distinct worlds—one shaped by the modern western lifestyle of France, the other by the ancient traditions of Buddhism and the pastoral customs of Mongolia. This unique blend shaped her musical style, which draws from a wide array of influences, including jazz legends like Chet Baker, the eclectic sounds of David Byrne, and the traditional melodies of the Mongolian steppes.
Céline’s sound is defined by her powerful, emotive voice and the haunting tones of her yatga, a traditional Mongolian harp she plays alongside guitar and piano. This combination creates a sound that is both contemporary and timeless, merging the rich cultural heritage of Mongolia with modern indie and pop sensibilities. The inclusion of Mongolian, French, and English lyrics in her songs makes her music accessible to an international audience.
A captivating live performer, Céline has played everywhere from intimate jazz clubs around Europe to major festivals like Lollapalooza Paris. Céline is actively involved in cultural exchange work in the UK, where she organizes events for the Asian community. Her performances at the Fat Cat Jazz Club in Ulaanbaatar have also made her a prominent figure in the local Mongolian music scene.
In the summer of 2024, Céline spent two weeks at Studio Zoe in New Jersey, working with producer Max Shrager (The Shacks, 54 Ultra). During this time, she composed and recorded a large body of new material, including collaborations with Sal Samano and Alex Garcia (Thee Sacred Souls). This creative period culminated in her Hödöö EP (2024) and a vinyl 45 on That’s Love Records, set for release in January 2025. Céline will be opening for Thee Sacred Souls at La Cigale in Paris on February 13, 2025.
