#PlasticFreeParty is a collection of conscientious, green-hearted tunes from some of our favourite artists, all brought together to highlight the incredible work being done by our friends at Bye Bye Plastic, the disruptive nonprofit working to eliminate single-use plastics in the music industry and restore Earth balance. The album will be officially launched at this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event with a party organised in collaboration with Levantine House in the luxurious W Amsterdam on release day, Thursday 20th October. A world-first, ground-breaking non-vinyl physical version of the album is also in the works.

Curated by Parisian DJ duo Chambord and released on BLOND:ISH’s ABRACADABRA label, #PlasticFreeParty brings together 14 new tracks from artists like BLOND:ISH, Shiba San, Vander & Deer Jade, Urmet K, Zigan Aldi and Chambord themselves.  100% of the album’s profits will be forwarded to the Bye Bye Plastic Foundation, enabling them to increase their visibility and message.

Chambord explained how the compilation came to fruition; “In 2020, we worked with Bye Bye Plastic for our first live performance in France. During this time, we gathered a group of friends and associates to create fundraising for this cause, and have been working together ever since. We met with Camille from the BBP foundation, and together with Blond:ish we decided to create a music compilation to raise funds. Together we can hopefully achieve our goals and make a difference.”

Combining sounds, cultures and influences, SELA brings PAAX’s groovy experimental sound into a new realm — with Cape Town’s Sakhe The Conqueror’s delivering powerful isiXhosa vocals to elevate and bring people together.

PAAX have infused the record with a joyful energy and rhythm, blending irresistibly catchy guitar licks from Cuban player Emilio Campos Rojas with Sakhe’s lyrics, ones that encourage us to drink the water of life (or to take the music as a message of healing, in and of itself). In addition, renowned producer Jean Claude Ades provides a club focused remix, sprinkling uplifting melodies to channel the essence of the setting sun.

This record emerged from a partnership between Scorpios Music and Bridges For Music — an NGO dedicated to empowering young creatives from under-served communities in Cape Town. All proceeds from the record will be donated to Bridges For Music.

As a show of thanks and appreciation, Saint Evo releases a free track for his fans and the masses, titled "Where Is My Lover" featuring the amazing self-taught artist, percussionist and guitarist Tetu Shani also known as the  “African Troubadour”.

In "Where Is My Lover", Saint Evo and Tetu Shani converge in creating a lovely masterpiece, Shani utilizing unique traditional instruments such as the Kubing, fusing them with folk rhythms from a modern acoustic guitar accompanied by a great bittersweet story of love and Saint Evo enmeshing elements from his equatorial realm of pulsating percussion, basslines and ambience resulting in an Afro House track that speaks to the heart and soul.
