This bonafide acid techno devotee has been a former member of Belgian underground crews like Funky Green Aliens, Analog Pleasures, Drop Acid Not Bombs, Cultmus & Tribes Gathering. Slowly working on his own brand of deep, slowly mutating acid techno since that time, I'm happy we get to drop these 4 scorchers on NYH!

Aether has been the curator and resident of Gent's own Dance Mekanik crew since 2019 and dropping regular mixes on Vizir radio over in Paris. You can hear these years of dancefloor knowledge seeping through these tracks. All these tracks are one-off, one-take live recordings without after editing. These spontaneous jams are based on experiment, jamming live with the machines, daring to make mistakes & imperfection. Blending the freetekno, free party, free acid vibe of the 90's with tripped out samples, and hard hitting hypnotic vibes of modern techno, but with an ease and spontaneity seldom heard in current dance music. Top notch acid!

I approached the mix to be "tasted" on radio around noon (time of broadcast) from there my eclectic selection and a selection based on the listen quality of each track (instead of a mix where you choose your tracks in function of the mix). Nevertheless i tried to build a story with those "seperate" tracks. The theme of this session was inspired by what I heard in the Zodiak stage at Space Safari 2023 — SOLD OUT and the disco tunes we listened to when aftering on the camping. From there my choice for tracks with  hypnotic trancey or disco basslines and organic psychedelic sounds that would work well on psychedelics.

The second chapter of the Dance Mekanik series starts with RTRA who was present also on the first compilation. This time he made a more dystopian electro track that somehow reminds me of the Beta Evers/Kommando 6 stuff that came out at the start of the century: brooding electro with 80s minimalwave influences.

A nice subtle build up of sweeping synths, electrically charged noises swelling on and off enfolded by a distorted industrial sounding rhythm assembled by the enigmatic Horos.

Le chocolat noir delivers a relentless banger over a frenetic melody line where a robotic vocoder and a human voice plays call and response with the track title ‘Mehanichki Ples’,

Aether Cvltvre (aether&drvg cvltvre) have the longest track on this ep: it starts with echoing watery sounds before the rhythm sets the pace. While moody keys give us a break, the acid kicks in slowly. Further on the moodyness stays in the background while the lysergica comes flaring to the front. Hypnotic!
