"This was our first ever live gig as Paranoid London. It was late 2008 at the Warehouse Project in Manchester & the resident DJ, Krysko, took a risk & booked us knowing we’d never done it before. We were booked for 2 hours & we’d only released 2 records so we had to write a whole set from scratch. We didn’t finish writing it until 5 am the morning before the gig so we didn’t have time to rehearse it even once. It’s a hybrid live & DJ set. We bought Paris Brightledge over from Chicago to do some vocals & his friend Marshall Jefferson happened to live in Manchester & got up to do some backing vocals. You can hear the crowd in parts coming through Paris’ microphone. We’re shitting our pants but somehow we pulled it off & caught the bug for doing it live. Hope you enjoy it"

Her ability to convey such emotion and meaning with the use of hardware is so impressive but hardly surprising given that Nicolas Lutz prizes her abilities. With two solo EP’s on My Own Jupiter and a track on Lutzifer she is clearly on to a good thing. Following his debut solo EP as Dilly Bombastik, Dragoș Ilici returns to Tonomat with his first release under his own name — Mercy EP, a four-track trip that captures the evolving depth and character of his sound.

On the A-side, “Rammer” kicks things off with a raw, percussive Detroit-inspired techno workout, anchored by a heavy sub and hypnotic drive. It's followed by the title track “Mercy” — a lo-fi, emotive exploration textured with warmth and grit, drawing influence from Cristian Vogel and Cari Lekebusch.

Flipping over to the B-side, “Chaga” dives into deeper territory — a meditative blend of trance-laced techno, nodding to the sonic signatures of Dustin Zahn and Mike Parker, and weaving in fragments of Tchaikovsky’s Hymn of the Cherubim for a haunting, timeless effect. Closing the EP, fellow Romanian producer ardb (Bogdan Ardeleanu) reworks “Chaga” into a stripped-back, rolling techno/trance tool — expansive, breaky, and primed for late-night floors with its stretched-out breakdown and sense of spatial vastness.

An EP crafted for introspective moments and peak-time pulses alike — Mercy marks a bold step forward for Dragoș Ilici.
