Kicking off the Cenote_Cast mix series is none other than Sergio Santos(Culprit, FIAKUN, No.19, CUFF - USA)!  Featuring new, unreleased tracks forthcoming from Cenote Records including a collaboration tune with Finley!  Some old, some new, Sergio has given us what is sure to be a timeless mix.  We are honored to have him kick off the series!

Born in the USA, raised in Portugal, Sergio Santos has spent his life between the cities of Oporto and Boston. It is thanks to his European connection that he became enamored with the underground house and techno scene on the continent and therefore bringing his knowledge and ideas to the `Boston side of the Atlantic.

Sergio’s intelligent and acclaimed DJ sets and his lengedary afterparty sets have also seen his DJ profile blossom and the world’s leading dance music magazine Mixmag marking him one to ‘Keep an Eye On’. He’s also been hitting the US’s major cities recently, spinning in LA, San Fran, New York, Detroit, Miami and DC regularly, and even further afield in exotic locations such as Mexico and Puerto Rico.

With future original productions and remixes with current studio partner, FINLEY from the former Low Tide fame, already set to land on labels like BobFives Black Magic Disco out of San Fran and Cenote Records from the hometown Boston. Atnarko.  A name synonymous with prolific, yet high quality, house music productions.  Atnarko’s tunes, ­which he describes as “hypnotic house music for weirdo’s, ” have been released on countless, high profile underground imprints such as Noir, Lazy Days, 20:20 Vision, Robsoul, and Lost My Dog.  He joins the Cenote family with his latest, the Let's Take a Chance EP, and we could not feel more honored to welcome him in.  The four track EP starts off with the namesake track, Let's Take a Chance, a heady club banger with an undulating bass line backed by rich pads and an alluring vocal hook.  The Brooklyn based man of the moment, Pattern Drama, lends an upfront, roller of a remix for Let's Take a Chance.  'Change' follows and is another exercise in working over a big club system which is backed by a percussive, techy remix from Finley.

Agents of Vibe - Cenote Cast #4

AEONIX is the brain-child of Jonnie King and Johnny Reyes. Their sound is comprised of deep, melodic textures accompanied by lush pads and driving progressions. AEONIX is not defined by any one genre; rather they enjoy experimenting through whatever soundscapes inspire them at any given moment.

The Medicine Songs EP is something AEONIX holds very dearly to their hearts. It has been a long time in the making, and finally ready for release. At the end of 2014, Jonnie King sat with Brother Edwin in a spiritual gathering and a vision came to him to share Edwin's icaros in the next AEONIX composition. After Edwin sent him some recordings, King brought them to his partner Johnny Reyes, which instantly sparked new creativity in their sound. The two saw this as a great opportunity to embark upon a slightly different direction with their music, and that next year AEONIX went on to open their set on the Robot Heart bus at Burning Man with the record, Pachamama Qhalichay, meaning “Earth Mother Healing.”

Later on in 2015, King met Chonon Quena in another spiritual gathering, and a similar vision came to him as with Edwin. He invited Chonon to the studio to meet Reyes, and it was clear that something beautiful was about to emerge from this union. They recorded Joe Divina (“Divine Light”) together which was the perfect companion to Pachamama Qhalichay. The boys then reached out to friends Goldcap, Simon Doty & Zein, and Sergio Santos to add their magical reinterpretations of the tracks to the Medicine Songs EP.

Sam Jaspersohn, known for his subtly crafted productions that evoke a range of emotions, delivers the Dirty Liver EP to Cenote Records for 2017. The namesake track features LA-based singer-songwriter Chris Lind contributing vocals. There’s a human element to Jasperson’s writing, which lends an organic roughness to his soundscapes, setting him apart from his contemporaries. Dirty Liver is a dark and angsty trip, painting a bleak picture, which teeters on the edge of a snarling acid synth-line, backed by Lind’s haunting vocals. Brooklyn’s Saqib and Toronto’s Lost Boy team up for an airy, cerebral remix adding needed contrast to the nefarious sounding original. Cenote artists Den of Snakes round it out with an upfront re-take ready for peak hour.

Pattern Drama - More Bounce (Original Mix)

The India Dormida EP comes as a collaborative effort between Panamanian producers and DJs Voiceless and Carlos Barbero. The EP features three original tracks and remixes from Breky, Foamek, and Cenote stalwarts Dacey Schubert. The title track, India Dormida, is rainforest funk: dripping lead synths, tribal flutes, jungle percussion, and an unrelenting bass line, which captures the sound of Central America in one go. Coiba is a throwback to the golden era of progressive house with a contemporary spin, followed by Baru, a thoughtful, meditative roller that anchors the originals on the EP.  Foamek turns in an all out trance masterclass remix of the title track, coming in at just under 10 minutes long; close your eyes and trance-port back to better days! Romania's Breky delivers a deep tech banger ahead of Dacey Schubert's acid-laden remix of Baru.

Carlos Barbero, Voiceless - Baru (Original Mix)

This compilation is a journey through sounds, that gets you started on those summer vibes, grooving, dancing and just enjoying everything the nice weather brings along with. The tunes are provided from a wide array of talented producers hailing heavily from Boston and New England areas. The music starts off with a slow relaxer from the extremely multitalented Wigzen, with his track Kronole. A slow burning afro cuban desert groove blending latin flavors with a smokey middle-eastern feel. This then flows into Hacienda by the Boston heavy hitters, Agents of Vibe (another project Wigzen is involved in). Hacienda is an outdoor sunny uplifter with melodic percussion, groovy guitar and a deep bass undertone to get you out of your lawn chair and dancing. Next up is Narrativa, by Sex on Decks, producer, DJ and former drummer of the amazing jam band Viral Sound. You can really feel his percussive roots throughout the track as well as the vibe of a band. Following that are the Cenote rising stars, Dacey Schubert with their tech banger, Next Density. Paul Schubert uses some of his vocal touch along with excellent production of deep bass stabs and percussion. This leads into the deep and dark nighttime groover, DEMUT, by Orin + Gogue. Next, we go back into a tripped out jam by Boston old-school head, Chris Reavey. Crazy sounds,  bouncy bass-line and deep synths lay throughout this genre-bender. Bringing back the high energy is Tenor, by the incredible duo, Black/Tuesday out of Colorado. These guys make non stop bangers that always bring the high energy and are sure to keep the dance floor moving with their percussion and upbeat piano rolls. Bringing the vibe back down for a late night jam with a meaningful vocal sample is the Atkins Diet by more Boston family and Cenote OG's: Finley + Smeed & Suspence. Bringing the energy back down is a dreamy guitar jam with burning man vibes and light vocal samples by our good friends and excellent producers: Beartrax and After Touch. To close out the vibe is Boston originator and now NY/Brooklyn staple, the incredible, David Paglia! David brings us a smooth daytime summer jam sure to ease the soul and put a smile on your face just as the sun rises or sets.
